While I am no fan of Mr. O'Reilly's, this article and most of the outraged responses to it really do give him too much credit (and any hopes to hold him responsible would only lead to a slippery slope that would hurt liberals as much as conservatives). Yes, Mr. O'Reilly may have brought the doctor's name out into public multiple times, but frankly, I'd assume that someone willing to murder an abortion provider has more resources at his disposal than Fox News with which to identify and find them (and more deeply seated opposition to abortion). As has been reported after other abortion provider murders in the past, there are people who make it a point to gather and post online information about providers and clinic staffs. If anything, if there's an abortion clinic in town, at least one nearby church probably knows everything about it and its staff.

John Hinkley Jr.'s father, John Hinkley Sr., was one of Bush Sr.'s top campaign contributors as the Chairman of Vanderbilt Energy Corp. I don't know what Hinkley Jr's political leanings were, but he was raised in a solid republican family - his brother was scheduled to have lunch the next day with Neil Bush (S&L fraudster and brother of George W.)

However, Ann Coulter has mentioned Tiller by name as well and called the murder of doctors who provide abortion the equivalent of late term abortion with a rifle. In other words, once again a right wing fascist shows no respect for the law of this land and applauds murder.

As an accessory to the murder of Tiller for his four year inflammatory rants against the doctor. O'Reilly and Fox News should be indicted as co conspirators, free speech does not mean yelling fire on the airwaves...Murdoch, Hannity,Ingrahm Miller, the whole shoddy crew are guilty as hell!!

I bet that Keith Olbemann will make this his number one topic on his show tomorrow - as well he should. All the stuff that is coming out about Operation Rescue and the killer's connection to it is very damning. These hatemongers need to be exposed for the lowlifes they are.

And O'Reilly should be vilified for his hate speech. Words have consequences. Strong words can adversely affect weak minds.

Watch this evil, slimy, pant load, deny and blame and refuse to accept responsibilty for his actions. That is a common defect of character of any conservative blowhard. Deny, lie, deny. Delusion is the common trait.

With Susan Wood's letter. The only legal recourse in this situation would be a wrongful death claim. It would be dismissed, but the PR would be devastating.. and effective.

Show his face on TV

Flash a look of faux innocence

And say:

"Huh?

Little ol'

rile 'em O'Reilly me?"

That will hit him where it hurts.

Unless there is a record of communications or transactions between O'Reilly and the assassin a conspiracy charge is unlikely.

Not that anyone will look for such records.

Of course. Except when you read about the kinds of cases he actually dealt with, & the conditions that inspired these late term abortions. Babies with such horrible conditions that only a truly evil, cruel person would wish 'God's birth' upon them. I know 2 women who had late term abortions. Both carried babies with devastating issues - issues that meant death soon after birth, and absolute agony. The manner of abortion pales compared to what those babies would suffer 'naturally.'

Controlling women's lives & women's bodies matters to anti-abortion minds. They don't give a damn about the babies.

Late abortions are often performed for medical conditions such as breast cancer, heart failure, and kidney failure, that arise during pregnancy. Often such women are mothers, and to not treat them would be to make their children motherless. See:

Abortion is a medical procedure, and women are entitled to medical treatment. Period. Partial-birth abortion, so-called, is a myth.

In the last 15 years, we have had hate murders in my suburb and in the one next door, including a doctor. Operation Rescue (or its ilk) posted doctors' addresses on the Web, until they were stopped ~ but was it permanent?
