O'Reilly's campaign against murdered doctor

The Fox News star had compared Tiller to a Nazi, called him a "baby killer," and warned of "Judgment Day"

Elephantic -

'If John Yoo or Jay Bybee were to be attacked by a deranged leftist radical,"

Stop advocating violence!

You wing nuts are all the same.

Ripped from Today's Headlines

This is indeed a tragic and deplorable event.

But, though I burned out on the "Law & Order" teevee franchise long ago, the question of whether a blowhard demagogue could be criminally liable for inciting a fanatic to homicide is right up their alley. The episode practically writes itself.

Or have they done it already?

Trainman, you should heed Mark Twain's advice...

about attempting to teach pigs to sing. It is especially relevant when responding to anything Elephantman writes. He doesn't realize that he's an Irrelephantman.

Aiding Terrorism

Since using violence to promote a climate of fear to promote a political agenda is the definition of terrorism there can be little rational objection to defining this murder as an act of terrorism.

As such, Bill O'Reilly and all those others who promoted this action should be treated in precisely the same was as those who raise funds for or promote such terrorist organizations as Hamas, Hezbullah or al Qaida.

To say any different is to say that we define acts of violence by right-wing Christian religious fundamentalists in a different way from acts of violence by right-wing Moslem religious fundamentalists. To have different laws or sentences based on the religion of the accused would clearly be a violation of the Establishment Clause.

Hammer Him

...on this point, and do not let it drop.

Hammer them all. Let's see where they truly stand.

Because the right has been accelerating this rhetoric, and we all know why: because they've been hoping if they do enough of this, some crazy person will commit violence.

Their hope is that it intimidates the rest of us.

It's time to show the right wing what year this is.

Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes and Fox news - responsible too

O'Reilly may be a dangerous crackpot but the so called "adults" who own and run the station he broadcasts from, are responsible too, maybe more so.

The phrase "inciting to riot" keeps coming to mind. Not quite the same thing but close.

That's the problem with winding up the extremely unbalanced with phrases like "Nazi" and "baby killer." They don't get that it's all a game devised by Karl Rove to hurt Obama and the Dems.

If you want to honor the memory of Dr. Tiller....

....please give a donation in his memory to Planned Parenthood and/or NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League). After three decades of legalized abortion, it's *still* threatened in some parts of this country AND abortion providers in those places are still at risk! The least we can do is honor Dr. Tiller's memory by helping the organizations who provide abortions and who lobby for the right to have one. "Freedom of choice" is one of the ultimate freedoms - and although I'm long past having to worry about needing an abortion and I live in a city where women have easy access to it, I've been contributing to such organizations since my college days because *every* woman deserves the freedom of choice. However, there won't *be* any freedom if abortion providers are at risk of being killed!

Whoops!

I meant to say "nearly four decades" (it must have been a senior moment or something....).

"If a deranged leftist...'

Ya? That's a big, 'if,' isn't it? Because, despite all the horrors we've seen, they haven't been attacked. Why is that, do you think? Because we're not fucking insane? Could that be it?

Reagan was shot by a crazy celeb-stalker. That's as close as it gets, I guess.

@ Hammer Him

Hammer Rupert Murdoch, NewsCorp and the board of directors, too.

They make it possible for O'Reilly to spew this stuff, all the while pretending that they are reasonable, civilized people who wouldn't dream of subscribing to his brand of demagoguery.

If Rupert won't repudiate this stuff, it should be tied directly to him.

Meidia still contribtuin to misinformation

Most of the abortions that Tiller perform were not for later term abortions either. Second term abortions are not late term.

Dr Death (Tiller)

used a process where a baby's body was extracted and the head held in place in the womens cervix (because if the head went the extra 4 inches he would be charged with murder)...Once the head is held in place, the skull is pierced and the childs brain is sucked out while still alive...With all the money Tiller made murdering viable babies I'm sure he'll have a nice casket!!!

Sue Sue Sue

It won't replace the human being, whose family miss him terribly, but that family should sue O'Reilly's ass off. It's a huge ass, encompassing his entire head, so it'll be worth it.

Seriously, lawsuit city for both O'Reilly PERSONALLY and Murdoch's corporation as well.

The venom and hatemongering is certainly a contributor to this poor man's death.

Of course, we shouldn't censor the media. But O'Reilly's remarks passed defamation long ago. He should get his fat salary stripped from him.

With luck, there's a hell and someday he'll be burning in it. But hey! Until then, this is the solution. Sue his fat, unethical, evil ass. I hope it happens.

Same old smokescreen issues and phoney comparisons

They always run to the First amendment when it serves their cause: asking should O'Reilly NOT BE ALLOW TO SPEAK FREELY -- no one said that -- what being said is the hateful fellow has the right to say anything he chooses AND the duty to take responsibility for actions committed as a result of his slanderous incitement.

Someone kill John Yoo? That's not an analogy -- how about a real one: killing Dick Cheney because someone says he's directly responsible for the hundreds of thousands of deaths resultant from his lies about his old pal, Saddam Hussein.

He might well go quietly off in handcuffs and say it was worth paying the price.

And -- why a lefty? More likely a moderate Republican who realizes that Cheney is destroying the Republican party the shooter loved?

Everyone has a right to say whatever -- even implying that the listeners take action -- and everyone else has a right to insist those people stand responsible for the actions taken.

But oh no -- once it's thrown into the political arena, for some reason, elephantman thinks it might be ok to backshoot someone in church during services (and then run away).

Because the assassin's religious he can't stand the idea of someone performing abortions.

Apparently the only place reality exists is in the titles of tv shows. Otherwise, we're still in Bizarreworld.
