O'Reilly's campaign against murdered doctor

The Fox News star had compared Tiller to a Nazi, called him a "baby killer," and warned of "Judgment Day"

The letters thread is now closed.

And we care what O'Reilly has to preach because??????

Anyone who listens to or takes this egomaniac seriously has to be as crazy and irrational as O'Reilly is.

Keep your stupid thoughts about abortion to yourself. If your daughter was raped and became pregnant by the vilest man on earth, are you saying you would want her to carry the child and rear it? You'd look forward to being a grandfather to it?

Ever strike anyone odd that most people shouting off about abortion are men? It's not up to them. It's up to the woman.

You are such a jerk, O'Reilly.

@greendalewi

I wonder what Bill O'Reilly would do if a campign was orchestrated against him in the same manner as he created this one against Dr Tiller.

This 'campaign' may be occurring right under your very nose in this single thread. And, this includes none of the harsh criticism projected specifically at O'Reilly over the years through many left-leaning sites.

These sites continuously focus intensely critical language (which I tend to support) toward O'Reilly who is then not only disallowed from voicing his very strong disagreement over the actions of another individual (Tiller) he is BLAMED for the unfortunate murder of this man.

Amazing disconnect going on here.

Fuck O'Reilly

fuck him fuck him fuck him. There's nothing else to say and no other way to say it. Fuck him.

O'Reilly -- two words for you

O'Reilly is one of the biggest assholes living. He brings up Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, two organiazations of which I happen to belong. I have but two words for O'Reilly: FUCK YOU!!!

Monday, June 1, 2009 08:42 AM

Smear Much ?

This article is ridiculous. O'Reilly is entitled to his opinion. I'm glad he shines the light on outrages such as the many late-term abortions this Tiller was performing.

They seem to have caught the killer, but that's not good enough, the Left has to demonize O'Reilly because of his stance on this so-called Dr's practices.

Too bad most of you have no outrage to spare for viable fetuses butchered in horrific ways ! But why should you, your Glorious Leader has no concern for them either. ( he only cares once they can VOTE ! )

Demonization

The so-called left doesn't have to demonize O'Reilly -- He IS A FUCKIN' DEMON!!

@professor

abortion is not infantacide.

idiot.

why don't you anti abortion idiots advocate holding the woman responsible? this dr. was performing a legal service.

start shooting the women - they are the ones that keep drs like this in business right?

anti abortion people are nuts and hypocritical.

and you are probably a man which means you should really just shut your mouth about the whole issue.

if you get pregnant, you can keep your baby okay?

Criminal Code of Canada: Public Incitement of Hatred

In Canada we could certainly charge him with public incitement of Hatred...

The crime of "publicly inciting hatred" has four main elements. To contravene the Code, a person must:

*communicate statements,

*in a public place,

*incite hatred against an identifiable group,

*in such a way that there will likely be a breach of the peace.

Under section 319, "communicating" includes communicating by telephone, broadcasting or other audible or visible means; a "public place" is one to which the public has access by right or invitation, express or implied; and "statements" means words (spoken, written or recorded), gestures, and signs or other visible representations.

All the above elements must be proven for a court to find an accused guilty of either:

an indictable offence, for which the punishment is imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or an offence punishable on summary conviction.

It would be really nice to see O'Reilly take some responsiblity for the filth he spews out into the world.

To Elephant Man

I know you think you're clever, but you miss the point when you say Salon's remarks against O'Reilly are equivalent to O'Reilly's remarks against Tiller. See, Big Guy, the difference is that Salon doesn't demonize O'Reilly and doesn't say (or even imply) that he's evil. Salon doesn't advocate (or even suggest) going outside the law to correct O'Reilly's wrong or say (or imply) that he deserves divine retribution for his deeds. Salon DOES recognize the difference between hate speech and free speech, which, it seems, you do not.

I love it when you ask if Glenn Greenwald would be responsible if a crazed lefty assassinated some bloviating rightie. There seem to be so few of those on our side compared to yours.....

Tiller = Becket

The assassination of Dr. Tiller has some interesting historical references. This murder is the flip side of the murder of St. Thomas Becket.

Henry II did not like Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury because Becket was trying to increase the power of church courts. His knights had heard Henry say, "What miserable drones and traitors have I nurtured and promoted in my household who let their lord be treated with such shameful contempt by a low-born cleric!" Taking this as a "royal command", the knights went to Canterbury Cathedral, confronted Becket and bludgeoned him to death on the steps of the altar. Although his death sentence may have been uttered in anger, it was taken as a command.

The mullahs of American religious conservatism are now trying to elevate God over Law, and Bill O'Reilly has volunteered as Chief Inquisitor. Perhaps we should accord Mr. Reilly the same punishment as King Henry. He was publicly whipped, and he never recovered the influence he had previously wielded. Becket was made a Saint.

Payback's a bitch...ain't it Bill?

We all make choices

Tiller made his choices in the face of great peril. He felt it was his calling which from my perspective makes him most likely a fanatic. Nobody made him become the 1 doctor in America that would perform late term abortions.

The video of the young woman that was 20 weeks pregnant and went to doctor Tiller due to parental pressure is maybe the most disturbing video I have ever seen. I have absolutely no idea if what she reports is true, but if it is several things were surprising to me.

She indicted that there were several other women there waiting in the same room while they got their first injection. I wasn't aware abortions were done like they use to do with kids when they had their tonsils taken out. I had mine taken out when I was 5 with about 20 other kids all in the same ward. It still creeps me out today that we were lined up for our shots and waited our turns to have our operation. But I digress. Whether this girl got one on one counseling especially in light of the fact that the baby was 20 weeks doesn't seem to have happened. The girl reported very little contact with the staff and barely none with Tiller. It has that assembly line feeling.

The procedure itself is sickening. The thought of sitting on a toilet waiting for my dead baby to fall out is beyond words.

Blame? O'reilly is like any other media type and reports on stories he thinks are worth hearing about. I don't blame him at all. If Tiller didn't perform late term abortions he would be alive today. Again, it is all about choices. ONLY Tiller really knows for sure what is true motives were and he will have to square that with his god. The shooter is guilty of murder. He too made his choice.

The one quote attached to Tiller that really made my heart ache is when he said that he knew that many of the fetuses were alive during the abortion. The woman in the video obviously wishes she had just had the baby. After all, she always had the option to put the baby up for adoption, versus ending the life in a most horrific manner without giving life a chance.

I would wonder how many doctors see this situation.
