  • I adore the willful naivete

some clown in a cave, who used to work for the CIA, caused 911? Never mind the special permits and treatment the Arab men got so that they could get into the US and train at our finest CIA run flight schools.

our military is BIGGER than all other militaries put together on the planet, yet we cannot find convenient clown in an area the size of southern California?

    FOLLOW THE MONEY.

The elites got extremely richer these past eight years. The new oil and gas and military equipment and NEW WORLD ORDER technology contracts. The new strategic positions on the world stage caused by us injecting ourselves into Iraq.

Keep believing the naive fables that a lone caveman caused the decline of America. IT IS ALL PLANNED. Just who in the world could PLAN such organized assaults on the most powerful nation in history? Some clown in a cave? Grow up already. I thought you lefties were into ripping on the CIA.

  • there are rational reasons to support bush and the repubicans if you are: 1)rich 2)a christian and/or white supremacist

so maybe (narrowly defined) stupidity isn't the issue, or at least not the only issue.

  • It's absolutely fair to blame Bush for 9/11 and here's why.

First and finally, it was his watch. The buck stops there.

Secondl, *he was warned*. It's a matter of record that he was given a Presidential Daily Briefing saying "Al Qaeda determined to strike in US," going on to say they were planning to fly planes into buildings in lower Manhattan.

When Bush didn't react, the CIA sent a man to talk to him and he still didn't react.

Third, when Clinton left, Al Qaeda was top priority in security. The moment Bush came in, he dropped all of that, in favour of Iraq. Iraq!

Finally, it was BUSH'S WATCH! He was the decider. He was the ultimate guy in charge. He screwed up before, during and after - and even if he'd done a better job, it was on his watch!

  • actually in some cases stupidity might be an issue

is it really THAT difficult to distinguish between the weather and the clean up afterwards?

  • oh and quit the global warming bullshit

    nobody buys it anymore.

we ought to be focused on all the OTHER, actual and REAL assaults on the environment, not on some phony money grabbing scheme cooked up by kids with science kits.

get this, the Earth changes temperature from year to year. Hard to believe, I know. But so it is.

  • Sure, blame Bush, but also blame Bush voters.

They knew that their candidate was an inveterate failure, a man who, prior to the presidency, turned all he touched to mud. Well, Bush voters who voted for Bush twice and are also inveterate failures as voters: they didn't learn. And most of them voted for McCain/Palin, suggesting they'll never learn.

  • @ Carmina

You better be writing from Iraq, for freedom is on the march there, and you don't want to left behind.

  • actually Obama, thank God, is apparently planning a big investment in energy efficiency infratstructure

    this provides 3 huge benefits:

it provides a lot of immediate economic stimulus, especially things like weatherization both for the people paid to do it and because the second it is in place somebody has more money to spend on something else due to energy savings

    it addresses global warming

it saves tons of money over the long run

  • @Carmina

    Am not defending anyone.

Am just saying that clinton and FDR are responsible for all the fiasco today.

Bush The Great tried hard to undo this by massive budget deficits that moved the surplus away from worthless poor (anyway humans are a renewable resource) and unwanted expenses like college subsidies (as if these morons get to be rocket scientists) or increasing social security(the old have done their job, now it is their job to die), to the more important people like halliburton, Lockheed & martin, Exxon (tax subsidies for working in hazard areas).

HE also tried hard to jump-start an economy by starting wars all over so that unemployed people can sign to be killed, thus ending their misery quickly.

HE also made sure the pillars of prosperity: oil companies, large corporates & banks continue to "enrich" USA by making sure the enviro-nuts are abolished, by providing more tax benefits to large corporates who move their HQs offshore (hmm... risk reduction), and bailouts to banks so that they can be "strong" enough to pay million dollars bonuses to their CEOs and boards to the extent they may jump start the economy by their spending.

Lastly, HE tried very very hard to force social security to invest its huge money in stock market thus averting the crisis which his supreme intelligence had forseen, but was thwarted in his attempt by spineless democrats and the damned citizens.

    Damn Clinton and damn FDR.

  • September 11th? That's why Bush couldn't do anything right?

September 11th killed about 3000 people and destroyed a couple of skyscrapers. It did not destroy the economy or threaten every American in any meaningful way. It was a wake-up call for dealing with terrorism and could have been the start of a new era if handled by a President with half a brain.

After September 11th Bush had nearly every American supporting him - not because he was G.W. Bush or because people thought his policies had suddenly become palatable but because he was the President and we were Americans and we knew we needed to unite to ensure that nothing like this would happen again.

The Taliban in Afghanistan were defiantly sheltering Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden. The whole world rallied to America's side when we invaded Afghanistan. Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, hell, even Gerald Ford or Jimmy Carter would have handled it competently. But not W. Instead of prosecuting that war to the end, putting Bin Laden's head on a pike and sending a clear message to the whole world that America was not to be messed with, Bush immediately started planning the invasion of Iraq so that he could compete with his daddy.

The rest is history. America is a laughingstock among terrorists because we have never effectively dealt with them. Our military is stretched and tired, our economy is in tatters. Our reputation is in ruins and along with it our ideals. The Bush administration's sheer incompetence will be their legacy.

  • DISTORTIONAL HISTORY

I was married into an Austrian family for 20 years. I heard my share of revisionist history about WW 2 and the Holocaust. Everything from, "It wasn't as bad as they say", to, "Hitler was a hero, the Holocaust never happened, and the Jews run America". Needless to say, I'm divorced from that family now.

Similar revisionist history is already being spewed by the Rush Limbaugh crowd: everything that's gone wrong during the past decade is Bill Clinton's & Barack Obama's fault!

George Orwell couldn't write this BS. Guys like Limbaugh & Gallagher and witches on wheels like Ann Coulter and Laura Ingaham are actually blaming the mess we're in on Clinton & Obama!

Don't get me wrong; I'm all for loyal dissent. But polarizing distortions that have no basis in fact is irresponsible at best and perhaps even treason. Appealing to the morons may get the pitchforks and the torches marching toward the castle, but it doesn't do anything to build bridges or pave roads.

George W Bush is walking out the door handing a steaming bag of flaming horse manure to Obama. We all owe it to him and to ourselves to see if he was wise enough to bring a fire extinguisher.
