It' true terrorism plots were being crafted before Bush took office. However, Bush ignored the warnings and the way Bush/Cheney reacted to 9/11 put the U.s. exactly where Osama Bin laden and the middle east terrorist wanted the U.S. The Bush administration neglected domestic policy and continued a failed war on terrorism with their invasions of Iraq. Their lack of diplomacy or diplomacy built on threats was a failure.
The Bush administration supported over consumption, but the American public can blame themselves for over consumption too. The financial crisis was born out of decades of greed, consumption and to much credit in both the public and private sector.
You only have to look inward to see how we got in this mess.
There was no big public outcry against torture. No public anti war protests. How many bought gas guzzling SUVs, over used their credit cards, bought stuff they did not need, bought houses they could not afford? How many put money in savings accounts?
It was only a crisis that woke some people up!
