Dude, where's my $700 billion?

Congress handed Wall Street a huge wad of cash to jump-start the economy. It didn't work -- so where did all that money go?

The letters thread is now closed.

Vanishing act

Let's see. This is the same Bush Administration that managed to lose a shipment of about $11 billion in US currency, 130 pallet loads, on the way to Iraq, without a trace.

So tell me again why anyone is surprised that $350 of bailout money "went missing", with nothing to show for it?

pretty funny

you wondrous capitalist drones should now back away from your money. It is gone. As self-satisfied as you once were...welcome to the food lines. While you pack up the storage boxes, might I remind you of your self-certainty a few years ago?

Once Obama gets in, the feds could track that money

no matter where it went, and tax it right back into the treasury. They could then use it for Clinton style strategic investment.

To stop them, the media will start another smear campaign, about Obama's stock trades or his 'love' for the family dog (or cat). They're already started the distractions with endless talk about that guy in Illinois who tried to auction off the Senate. And Americans are falling for it like a ton of cabbage.

Liberals could have countered with high quality television using the public access channels. I said as much 10 years ago. But progressives are to lazy and selfish to do anything except for cash. And we're still at the mercy of GE, I mean MSNBC.

and yet A Democratic Governor is being impeached without being proven to be corrupt...

I don't know whether Democrats are wimps or mentally retarded.

Pelosi can't start impeachment of Paulson or Bush, BUT supports impeaching a Democratic Governor because Republicans said so.

On one hand the Republicans refuse to acknowledge their corrupt, thieving ways, but demand impeachment of a Democratic Governor who "they" think tried to make money...

And democrats including Obama support it.

Republicans are Spitzering another Democrat, and Dems are supporting them!

If Democrats continue to hang out to dry every Democrat whom Republicans accuse of corruption, there won't be many supporters.

Would Dems take back Spitzer and make him Governor now that he is cleared of all charges?

Instead of attacking Republicans on their many fronts, including their corrupt senators, Dems are playing defense.

Which is why Dems are the wrong party to support.

Dumb Ass Dems.

No offence

But are you an economist? Does this article reference any economists? Before I get up in arms, I'd like someone to explain how our system did not completely collapse in October and November. Maybe the $700 billion had a little something to do with it? I'm not saying it was perfect by any stretch, but our economy could be a whole lot worse.

Cowardly Democrats disappoint us again

Pelosi is just sure she remembers writing in that bill that Bush should help homeowners and not just hand stacks of untraceable cash to his rich friends. She's almost positive about it. Darn that Bush!

But if Pelosi did put solid, effective, specific language guaranteeing help for homeowners in the bill, she or anyone could sue the Bush administration right now for violating the law. So perhaps what she did was put weak, ineffectual, impotent, symbolic, flaccid, flimsy, weak-kneed and gutless language in the bill.

Let's see—does that sound like something Democrats in Congress would do?

Chump Change Paid for by Dupes ne-taxpayers

When the banks choose to spread their campaign contributions across the spectrum, you have to know that it is well past time for publicly-funded political campaigns. Between the banks, the Defense machinery and the other large and well-funded cash cows feeding the DC political leadership, the "average American" is basically screwed.

Until and unless we can untie the knot that binds our politicians to the lobbyists and the wealthy, the taxpayer will be paying for bank bailouts, auto bailouts and any other large contributing organization finding itself in financial trouble.

I'm glad you had the courage to mention Santa. Most liberals say:`X _ anta, or X- mass. As if they are on a prescribed psychotic Rx# zantaX, goofy times... Maddening? What a crowd. O, watch _louds, but not cumulous clouds.. .

Sad. And all Mike Madden wanted was his three front green buck teeth bleached.

The local dermatologist said feet need Scroll Foot Pads to help lame wobbly gait.

Poor Mike Madden has stinky blogger athelete feet.

No foot doctor podiatrist fixes M.M. bunions for free.

M.M. has holy socks. No orthodontist doles free socks.

No ornithologist will darn care if Mike Madden moans.

So what if the rusty jalopy needs hot-wire jumper cables?

People on Wall Street need two new sail boat cruise yachts.

You don't need bail cash for candy canes. Just lick wrappers.

Mike Madden need molars or wisdom tooth pulled? Use pliers?

Use a door nob and tie a rope to the door and slam it real hard.

So it was useless? Well I guess that the average

taxpayer is smarter than the people who passed the bill. Even though the 40% approval rating for this ridiculous ripoff was touted, other polls show that less than 1 in 300 Americans thought that spending a trillion dollars of OUR money (by printing it, no less) would do absolutely jack shit. And it did. Except put us deeper in the hole.

Money?

What money? I didn't see any money.

Did you see any money Joe?

Nope, no money here.

Did you look over there?

Yeah, look right over there....

"It's amazing how quickly you can get through $350 billion,"

Especially when you've already set up a pattern of theiving, lying and deceiving!

Dennis Kucinich for Speaker of the House! Nancy Pelosi continues to be worthless as is Harry Reid and the rest of the Dems. If I could afford her district, I'd move there just so I could help vote her out.

Well, i never understood the theory behind it..

But I pretty much knew it wasn't going to turn out too well.

How? Simple.

Anytime Bush and the Dems agree on something, its pretty much gonna be a colossal failure. I'm thinking the Iraq war here.

We got tired of dumping money into Iraq, so we thought we'd dump it into the banking system. Apparently, we don't need any money for health care, education, green energy.

Gotta hand it to Bush -- he's brilliant at pulling off these snow jobs.
