    to -- Elephantman

I have a close Republican friend who doesn't beleive me when I tell her people like you exist, that blame the auto industry woes on CAFE, that blamed the California blackouts of a few years ago on Environmentalists, who blamed the oil speculation that just went bust on lack of drilling. Those notions are just too dumb for her to process, almost like I was 20 years ago thinking that the American People wouldn't allow Creationists to gain a foothold in politics.

Let's look back to the beginning of the economic bust. 9/11 was recoverable, the collapse of the vaperware-fueld tech-bubble was recoverable, but the manipulation of California's energy market (by Enron) then later, the collapse of Enron, really started the pull in an ugly direction. The fraudulent mortgage securities pulled in a different direction. The massive loss of jobs over the past 8 years without job replacment, and our money flowing to foreign companies, pulled in a different direction. The huge increase in fuel (not just cars but heat and electricity) pulled in a different direction. Billions of dollars in Iraq pulled in a different direction. Health care is another 800 pound gorilla and weights the economy down. At what point does this pull apart? NOW! All of this points to deregulation. YOU and yours have been in charge of this but that doesn't start ya'll from pointing at the the Union-spookypeople and those horrible environmentalists. That has been the same game since the 1920's.
