Impeach Bush for Christmas

The White House censored her subversive Christmas tree ornament -- only to spread its anti-Bush cheer.

The letters thread is now closed.

Oooooo: I *want* one!

Where can I buy a replica??? Not only is it a very pretty ornament, but I couldn't agree more with its sentiment.

Another Victim of the Left

Why does every story I read victimize the left? Oh yeah doy, Marxist believe life is a painful struggle. I wouldn't want an anti-American ornament on my CHRISTMAS tree either.

Oh and wouldn't it be easier and more comprehensible to use words like confused over flummoxed? Another overwritten article.

Was there any vetting process at all here?

This letting criticism through the bubble really sounds un-Bush like to me. I guess because it's their last year they let their guard down a little but I couldn't see something like this happening a few years ago. Knowing what an unpopular figure Bush was, certainly someone in the inner circle should have realized that perhaps it might be a good idea to do a background check on what some of these artists have made before giving them a commision. Unless they really are that oblivious to how much he is hated and it never occured to them. Either way, somebody really dropped the ball here.

Oh, well they all lose their jobs in a month anyway. Why give a shit about the critics now, right guys?

"Bush...

...got to be Bush because of Bush voters. And consequently, so many have suffered and died in the name of the baby Jesus."

I want a blood red and bone white ornament with that inscription.

Secularism

Don't fool yourself bigguns--more have died in the name of secularism than religion.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 08:21 PM

Nelson,...

That is such a nitwit statement. The most malevolent and bloodthirsty force in all of human history is religion. Secularism will need a good thirty centuries to even break even, and no doubt some batshit Christianist will finally figure out a way to kill us all before that happens.

I love it when the right wing trolls come over to play!

They always feel they have to defend war and captialism in the name of Jeeezus! I guess as long as he's not gay anything he does is okay with you guys, right?

There should be a substantial market for this item

But did she really expect this to fly? COme on. Even someone with a soul and a conscience probably would have nixed this idea, let alone any member of the Bush family or administration, which is made up almost entirely of vampires, werewolves and assorted mountebanks, monsters and freaks.

Still, I'd love to have the franchise on this. It could become heirloom material.

Let's be charitable

"Why would I want to put a smiley face of tacit approval on an administration famous for lies, greed, warmongering and religious fundamentalism?"

Well said. But let's be charitable, in the spirit of Christmas. Let's think of the demons that made him do all that stuff. Aren't those demons punishment enough for him?

@Bukk63

The exploitation of superstitious religious belief for ego-driven, power-mad, homicidal purposes is merely one gambit of many, as far as the ability of humans to pervert any collective impulse to serve the worst potentials latent in their nature.

Secularism is not immune to that terrible tendency.

Consider the 20th century: the Nazis, bottom line, organized their will to power around materialist sociobiology. They made their overtures toward religions ranging from Nordic paganism to integralist Roman Catholicism, but that was simply doublespeak. Fundamentally, they were "humanists"- they simply had a more circumscribed view of what counted as authentic humanity, based on quack genetic theory.

Then there were the Marxist-Leninists, whose regimes unleashed reigns of terror from the Ukraine to Pnomh Penh to Pyongyang, with not a bit of "God talk" or "religion" in any of it. What often functioned in exactly the same way were cults of personality based around the secular deification of human beings- Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Kim Il-Sung...

this does not speak well of the simple absence of spirituality and religion as an anodyne for the propensity to mass homicidal violence in human societies.

WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korean, Stalin, Hitler, Congo, Mao, Khan, Roman Empire, etc.

What's more, the artist puts, "America cannot regain its moral leadership in the world if America cannot hold its leaders accountable for their actions at home, without accountability, a Democracy will fail."

Without God democracy will fail. It is the foundation to democracy as per Alexander Tyler.

Got it, jwnelsonUSA.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I'm ready to kill for Jesus, but I have to remember to keep my kill count under the secular kill count. And, like Bush, I'm ready to torture for Jesus. Say, may I use a cross to torture?

You forgot some

WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korean, Stalin, Hitler, Congo, Mao, Khan, Roman Empire, etc.

You forgot the Crimean War, Boer War, the original Star Wars trilogy and the Battle for Middle Earth upon the fields of Pelennor.

@bukk63

The most malevolent and bloodthirsty force in all of human history is lust for power. No human institution, be it religious, political, educational, or otherwise, is immune to the corruption of humans driven by weakness, desire, envy, and all the other lower impulses. Only when we can distinguish the forceful actor from his implement of choice in achieving and securing power can we protect ourselves from tyranny.

Art rules!

I usually wouldn't appeal to an artist to go for the mass, crass commercialization of a creative work, but damn...I want me one of them ornaments!

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 10:03 PM

As usual

The tolerant side is intolerant in regard to Christianity. Reality is overcome and common sense is a myth created by "The Others." You need only look at the lack of common sense which is the focus of the article and the posts afterwards. You are your own worst enemy and always will be.

The hatred of Christianity, and the overbearing tolerance of every other religion except Judaism, comes from a supreme overdriving force which the weak-minded find hard to resist. That force has a name: Guilt.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 10:14 PM

Oh yeah Abagadro...

I also forgot WarGames with Matthew Broderick...that almost ended it all!

Wait...what about abortion. The fatality count keeps going up.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 10:14 PM

Without God democracy will fail. It is the foundation to democracy as per Alexander Tyler.

Prove that democracy needs "God".

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 10:17 PM

traumatic

"Tolerance" is a two way street. I don't know why your masters on talk radio never bother to tell you that part. Christianity threw the first punch.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 10:50 PM

ME TOO!

What a great gift idea! Does anyone think they'll be available for sale? It would be prefect to send to friends with my JOY TO THE WORLD, OBAMA WON! holiday cards---and my homemade cookies, of course.
