  • Brightstar, etc

Brightstar - its imperative that you read Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals.

  • The main problem with Salon Comments

    Stupid innane comments.

  • Oh stop it!

One thing I have noticed, without exception, is the need of those who don't seem very happy with the incoming administration, to use foul language and hate speech. Why is that necessary?

  • WHY THE WAIT?

At least we do not have to wait til March, thanks to FDR who could afford to give up 6 weeks anyway--of course he was kind enough to die in office so it did not make any difference to him.

It took a long time to count votes two hundred years ago when the time between elections and inaugurations was established. But since we still do not know what is going on in the Minnesota Senate Race, we really have not solved that problem yet. But we find a better reason for the length of the transition period. Obama needs this time. He has demonstrated (I should say his team has demonstrated) a thoughtful and careful approach to putting together a New Administration. This approach has taken into consideration the actual economic situation, the actual foreign relations situation, the actual national security situation etc., etc. etc. In short, gathering the facts in order to make some initial determinations as to what courses must be taken for the next four years. And he needs time to approach potential nominees and get some feedback. And don't forget the importance of "vetting". This approach has produced real benefits. Many Republicans have praised at least some of the nominations, and Independents like David Gergin are impressed with almost all of Obama's choices.

This wait does give W free reign to pardon felons, produce executive legislation per presidential orders and begin his musings about what a good job he's done while still in office.

But it was we, the electorate, who gave W a second term. It was our stupidity that made him Chief Executive from January 2005 until January, 2009. And we will live with this choice for another 7 weeks or so.

  • The aftermath

Obama is going to have to undo so much that Bush did. The man wrecked our reputation in the world and now his legacy is a wrecked economy. Obama can't do much now except appear to know what's going on and appoint a competent team but that in itself is a lot.

  • Like the Nazi Hunters

I am truly worried about you. All this anger is extremely unhealthy. Please kick back and have a good Thanksgiving. Remember to breathe. Remember to smile.,/b>

I only WISH I was independently wealthy and thus could spend the rest of my life putting these punks behind bars.

  • Oh, please.

"Obama is going to have to undo so much that Bush did." Do you really think that Bush did it all by his retarded little self? Grow a brain. The government that was in power during the last eight years is still in power. Get ready for more of the same. BO is already sounding way more like his predecessor than any of his rabid fans thought he would. His cabinet selections are just recycled Clintonistas, and his homeland security secretary has encouraged Mexico to invade our country for the last decade or so.

Boy, some people are really stupid.

  • Rainbow Peace Tanks in the streets Now!!!!

Is that what you want? I am so behind that.

  • disrespect

obama is not to be disrespected; he is God, and the media is well aware of it...

  • This is politics, not economics.

Bush is invisible and Obama is being encouraged to take the lead because the Republicans have already decided to blame HIM in 4 years for this recession. Right wing hate radio is already referring to the current downturn as the "Obama Depression". Just like they stuck Carter with the blame for the previous 8 years of mismanagement and the bill for the VietNam war.

If nobody remembers seeing Bush during the crash but they DO remember seeing Obama it'll be a lot easier for Faux News to rewrite history starting in about 2011.

And in the mean time the Bush administration is still busy transferring what's left of the United States borrowing power to their wall street backers, who rather than lending it out to keep the economy running are hoarding it. Guaranteeing the crash that they want to pin on the incoming president rather than the folks who caused it. Sort of like retroactively blaming then New Deal for the Great Depression. Which they have also been doing lately.

  • The Road to Recovery

I have concluded that this Nation's road to recovery is not through bail-outs, stimulus packages or new rules for the financial industry. It is instead through justice.

Much of the value traded back and forth during the last few years was illusory, but considerable value was also swindled, extorted and outright stolen from investors, our government and foreign governments by out-and-out criminal racketeering. The current RICO statutes were passed with the clear intent of bringing just such sophisticated criminals to justice. And recovery of these stolen funds should be a first priority.

Action plan for the Obama Justice Dept:

Publically announce, before Bush begins the pardoning of Cheney, his Cabinet and advisors, Abramoff, Cunningham, Pollard et al, that ELLIOT SPITZER will receive a pardon and will be appointed to pursue RICO prosecution of any and all banking and financial crimes, crimes against humanity, corruption and eavesdropping committed by the outgoing Administration.

Such a move would have an immediate chilling effect on the wholescale theft and destruction of evidence that will be attempted during these last two months of Bush in office.

Elliot Spitzer paid dearly for his private indiscretion, losing the Governorship, his family and his good name. He will work hard to restore the public's confidence in him.

And the Banking Cartel and the Bush Felons will be wetting their pants.

  • Transition Cooperation

I'm impressed with both the White House and Obama's approach. Dire times call for this level of cooperation.

  • Poco

Boy, some people are really stupid.

Lucky for you, your public schools offer free remedial training for adults to help you make up for that bible school education which serves you so poorly.

As Bush takes down the US he's also leaving the Republican party in smoldering ruins. You should get yourself back to that dustbin and tend to it, pub.

Evening and weekend classes are also available for your convenience.
