And who's that other guy in the White House? As George Bush continues his vanishing act, Barack Obama steps into the spotlight, two months early, to calm a jittery nation.

    Not even president-elect yet

    MaxNYC:

"nope. Until the electoral congress votes him in, he is president elect. GW like it or not still runs the roost."

Technically, Obama will not become president-elect until the Electoral College meets next month.

There's a great deal of arrogance with Obama and his myrmidons (e.g., Salon) on this issue. The voters had to wait until March 1933 for FDR to be sworn in as president, and the economic situation was far worse then. We also had to wait until January 1981 for Reagan to be sworn in. We had both a bad economy then and a serious hostage situation in Iran that Carter, the worst president of the past half century, could not handle.

Be patient, children. Your messiah will be president soon enough. Then he will have his own cross to bear.
