Why did the Left get so upset with Paul Krugman during the primaries? Because he pointed out that Obama on a number of issues was not nearly as progressive as Hillary Clinton or John Edwards. Anyone listening to Obama should have realized tht except for one speech before he was in the Senate he and Clinton were almost identical on every issue. Why should it be so surprising that he is creating a centrist administration.
What Obama did politically is marry the typically movement Democrats the sorts who voted for Howard Dean, Gary Hart and Bill Bradley with Black votes who the former Democrats could not carry. Obama did they by offering a new politics not a leftwing one.
