Bill Ayers talks back

Sarah Palin called him a terrorist, Barack Obama called him an acquaintance. A Salon editor who knew Ayers back when talks to the ex-Weather Underground member turned Republican talking point.

The letters thread is now closed.

Is it not strange how Ayers to this day denounces the American ways and the American injustice?

Not at all. Bush gives everybody plenty to denounce.

Don't you wish everybody would just shut up about the Bush administration's military imperialism, rapacity, lying, greed, cover-ups, smear campaigns, torture camps, crimes of treason, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and assorted genocidal screw-ups?

If anything, Bush's injustices have been insufficiently denounced, and not yet prosecuted at all.

Happier than ever that I voted for Obama

With the Republican stupidity on display throughout this thread, I am happier than ever that I voted for Obama.

Juan, Lotus, et al, you don't realize it, but you're not doing your cause any favors. One misinformed self-righteous post after another isn't going to win you any followers here. You're wasting your time.

Hey, Republicans - YOU LOST! YOU LOST! YOU LOST!

Walter map-reply

You are 100% correct when you speak about what Bush has done. In fact, this week alone Bush has issue 50,000 permits for auction for drilling of oil in the most pristine lands in America-Zion National Park in Utah. I will agree with you on the invasion of Iraq if you say that it was an illegal act. I have no idea why we went in there. Was it to go after weapons of mass destruction? That was a big lie? Was it to go after terrorists? That was even a bigger lie. I can keep going and in fact say that I think that president elect Obama should seriously reverse the comment made by one of his staff in investigating the executive branch for war and other crimes. But, pray do tell me how many articles have you seen in Salon about the recent move by Bush to auction those oil rights? How many articles have you seen to try and mobilize the people to make a difference in positive way? No, instead we have this type of nonsense that we have here: rehabilitation of a terrorist.

If your argument is that the solution to the stupidity of a Bush type of government is terrorism than we are in real trouble. It does not compute. As citizens our responsibility is to change things in a lawful way and not through killing our own fellow citizens. If as a country we make a decision to send our children to Vietnam then democratically we are expected to support that decision while at the same time we are expected to get our kids out of Vietnam but not through killing them.

Just think for a second Walter Map, this guy Ayers actually dedicated his book Prairie Fire to the killer of a man who was fighting the mafia. Yes, Robert F. Kennedy was fighting corruption and crime and Ayers dedicates a book to his killer?

Juan Enrique

The country will wake up from the mesmerism of the so called Messiah!

Now there's something you could shout from the rooftops, wingnut. Go for it. We'll send somebody to talk you down after everybody's had a good chuckle.

Tuesday, November 18, 2008 07:49 AM

Could you tell me what you know about Obama?

“bungo pony

Hey, Republicans - YOU LOST! YOU LOST! YOU LOST!”

Could you stop the childish rant?

If the so called Messiah proves to be what many are afraid he is you will find yourself in a place you would not want to be.

And this is precisely where the liberal media and articles like this have failed miserably: we do not know who the real Obama is.

Could you tell me what you know about him, his accomplishments, his shortcomings, his graduation thesis, what hospital he was born in, whether he was an Indonesian citizen, whether he had a foreign passport, what he did in Pakistan, etc., etc.?

You're hallucinating.

As citizens our responsibility is to change things in a lawful way and not through killing our own fellow citizens.

Then explain why you still keep that Tim McVeigh shrine, wingnut.

Juan Enrique

we do not know who the real Obama is.

All the more reason why you should buy a collection of Obama's speeches, to help you get to know your new president. It's also available on audio for those of you who don't read.

@Walter Map

Could you post in Latin from now on, sir?

Your guy won, so why are you so vicious?

It's not nice, Walter, to keep calling Juan Enrique a "wing nut." Why not just respond to the many valid points Juan Enrique is making? Why be such a smug snotnose? My best friend in grade school had a very nasty golden cocker spaniel who always growled like you do?

Instead, why don't you fly down to Argentina and Venezuela to see how your socialist dreams come true. Maybe Ayers can bring you along on his next trip.

Do you think that Chavez and his new buddy, and and arms supplier, Putin, are licking their chops, getting ready for a naive (at best) Obama Administration? Don't you think they're getting ready to run circles around them, sir? Do you think Obama should resuscitate Madeline Allright and send her down to Caracas to tango with Hugo?

And, Mister Map, how about Bernadette Dhorn for Secretary of State instead of Hillary, sir?

You are a lost cause. You are already brain washed.

They do that in North Korea, Cuba, China and Venezuela, among others: people are told to study their dearest leader’s dogma.

You are a lost cause. You are already brain washed.

But your response shows that you know nothing of what Obama has accomplished because he has accomplished nothing prior to the election.

I'm tired of being nice...

Little Juan,

"If the so called Messiah proves to be what many are afraid he is you will find yourself in a place you would not want to be." - How the fuck would you know? Maybe I'd be elated.

"And this is precisely where the liberal media and articles like this have failed miserably: we do not know who the real Obama is." - You know what, Juan, we don't know the real John McCain either. We don't know the real Sarah Palin. We don't know the real George Bush. We don't know the real Juan Enrique. You're upset that the media didn't report something that you wished was true, truth be damned. Newsflash, dipshit, the media's job isn't to play to your paranoia. YOu have FOX News for that. You will never know everything about anybody.

"Could you tell me what you know about him, his accomplishments, his shortcomings, his graduation thesis, what hospital he was born in, whether he was an Indonesian citizen, whether he had a foreign passport, what he did in Pakistan, etc., etc.?" - Sure. Just as soon as you tell me every single thing every Republican, living or dead, has ever done from the cradle to the grave. - See, you don't know them either, do you?
