Bill Ayers talks back

Sarah Palin called him a terrorist, Barack Obama called him an acquaintance. A Salon editor who knew Ayers back when talks to the ex-Weather Underground member turned Republican talking point.

The letters thread is now closed.

@good celery (goof celery?)

French bread!

Certainly, my frem.

There are baguettes galore,

Here,

And brie, and a nice bottle of Rhone

Or Sancerre to wash it down, my dear

Do not go gently

Good morning

Good mooning too

Stay intact

You can't wait for this thread to close!

Does that mean you can't take the truth, dear?

It's not what you wish to hear?

Is it the facts that you fear?

Will you cry in your beer?

Speaking truth to power, remember that?

Friedman said the earth is flat

Smug liberals are blind as a bat

Last night in snowed in Philly

Global warming might be silly

Sorry to rain on your parade

Is stalin.com a dull charade?

Are there skunks at your garden party, dear?

It's not the truth that you should fear.

Please do not say a word

In your punchbowl I spot a turd.

But the Obama lovers give the credential of a ‘distinguished professor’ to a terrorist that killed and planned to kill Americans.

Never happened. A rant, misguided on many levels. I blame the neocon kool-aid.

Is not Shapiro a Jewish last name?

You just had to work some anti-semitism in there somehow, didn't you, wingnut?

Please tell me what salt is good for if it loses its taste!

Translation: "Please tell me what a lying smear campaign is good for if the rubes aren't fooled?"

Good question. The lying smear campaign didn't work for Palin either, wingnut, but let's face facts: you don't have anything else.

In your punchbowl I spot a turd.

Only a delusional wingnut mistakes a toilet for a punch bowl.

See what you right-wingers get for rejecting the reality-based community? Party punch with an off flavor.

Shapiro, go and interview Obama and ask all the questions!

Shapiro, go and interview Obama!

Shapiro, ask The Messiah what he did in Pakistan!

Oh, and ask him if he traveled with an Indonesian passport.

Also if Soetoro taught him the tenets of Islam.

Do not forget to ask how he evolved from a Muslim to a Christian.

Then an only them you would have some credibility with a great part of the nation.

walter_map, you are delusional. You are beyond hope!

Did you work in The Messiah’s campaign? Every thing is racism for you.

Jews chase former Nazi criminals to the ends of the earth and Ayers is glorified?

So you say that the Weather Underground crimes never happened?

You are delusional. You are beyond hope!

Fun with wingnuts:

Zoltan Newberry and Juan are two of the most ridiculous people I have read in this whole thread.

Ridiculous, as in, "deserving of ridicule". You've never posted with maptwo0 or jgg1000a. Now those guys are ridiculous. Zoltan and Juan are junior varsity.

They keep skipping around, blasting their RushO'Reilly propaganda like it is the truth, and calling people names like "turd" and "pervert".

So far they've only issued some thinly-veiled death threats, and no promises of mass exterminations of libruls. Maybe they're working their way up to it.

If they aren't poster children for what is wrong with the Republican party I don't know what is.

Republicans figure they can win next time by being even more vicious and extreme.

Amazing that they don't even realize how stupid and vitriolic they come off.

Another side effect to rejecting reality.

The only good thing is that when this thread is closed their comments will be wiped off this

I hope not. They're excellent examples of radical right-wing viciousness and extremism. Their own words can always be used against them.

Fantastic Article, by the way.

If Ayers isn't nominated to become Secretary of Education maybe he can get a blog on Salon.

Is not Shapiro a Jewish last name?

Look out, everybody. The wingnuts are taking names. Jewish names.

Shapiro, go and interview Obama!

Don't stop there. Offer him a grant so he can do a whole series of interviews and take some time off to write a book.

Maybe he could one day become Obama's official biographer. You never know.

Did you work in The Messiah’s campaign?

Nope. Jesus was about 1200 years before my time. Look it up.

Maybe you mean Obama. Obama had hundreds of community organizers working and winning the campaign.

Looks like you wingnuts won't be scoffing at community organizers any more, huh?

If only I could imagine my republican friends being able to think for themselves, instead of regurgitating the campaign propaganda they were lapping up;

then I would feel encouraged to send them this article so they could be informed about the real meaning of what they were saying. It's so ironic that these people can talk down to us while casting a shadow of evil that harkens back to the Nazis. Does humanity always have to carry these currents pride and hatred?

Rehabilitating Terrorists for Dummies- a guide for the rest of us- by Walter Shapiro

A new low for Salon and Shapiro if they think that we have forgotten all the other things that Ayers has said or done.

Let us go back to Ayers' book Prairie Fire. That book is hard to obtain but it is dedicated to none other than Sirhan Sirhan. I am sure that the readers of Salon know that Sirhan Sirhan killed Senator Robert F. Kennedy. So, it is quite surprising that we have a guy who has not repented openly for writing that. I think that Secret Service should ensure that this 'neighbor' does not get anywhere near the president elect Obama. As for Shapiro being chummy with his old buddy Shapiro, what can one say. It is heart warming to see, but it would have been better if the interview were conducted behind bars. That is where Ayers belongs.

Is it not strange how Ayers to this day denounces the American ways and the American injustice? Is it not injustice that someone should have gotten away with murder like Ayers and his wife did? I guess that Ayers and his wife want it both ways. Why hypocrisy is this and why did Shapiro not ask him about this? We know. Because the real reason is that it is all about rehabilitating a terrorist.

The country will wake up from the mesmerism of the so called Messiah!

Since Eisenhower took office in 1953 the American People has preferred a Republican over a Democrat President by 64% of the time.

And in this election it would have been the same had it not been because of the financial crisis that was, for the most part, the result of the policies of the Democrats in Congress that opposed the regulation of Freddie Mack and Fannie Mae.

And that is precisely because of the obtuse minds of the liberals.

The country will wake up from the mesmerism of the so called Messiah and the liberal media will be discredited even more with the people because of the glorification of terrorism that articles like this one are doing.

Wait and see.

And if the so called Messiah ends up being a Marxist then the fall of American liberalism and its media will be even worse because the fact is that Marxism has not worked anywhere.
