  • Or am I being trivial?

    I know I should be focused on the bombings and all, but after reading this article, all I could think was . . .

    John McCain, affair, divorce;

    Rudy Giuliani, divorce, affair, divorce; installed NYC Crisis Center near apartment where he had installed mistress;

    Newt Gingrich, affair, divorce, affair, divorce, visited wife in hospital with divorce papers after her cancer surgery;

    Ronald Reagan, affair, divorce, married divorcee; and

    Bill Ayres, Bernadine Dohrn, together 40 years.

  • I wouldn't let Rudy Ghouliani

    Run a fuckin' post office.

  • guilt...

    Well i agree with what Ayers said about guilt by association. But as much as the liberal illuminati down played Obama's connection to Ayers it was still a huge deal, mainly because the conservatives made it a big deal. But if Ayers is telling the truth that he and Obama have only has 15 or so conversation i am lost? I have Ayers wrote books for Obama and a countless list of other things. 15 conversations? What do we really believe?

  • Good interview.

    I was in my early 20s in 1968. You had to live through the times to understand,the Weather Underground like many other war protesters were the target of the FBI and victims of violence themselves. The FBI planted people among war protesters and kept files on innocent people. Many young people disregarded the focus on the Weather Underground as just another government conspiracy.

    When Nixon to elected office things got worse. The conservatives can yell all they want about the Weather Underground, but never mention killing and injuring of innocent students by the National Guard at Kent State.

    I never even heard of Bill Ayers until the republican brought him up. I only remember hearing about Bernadine Dornan. J Edgar Hoover had some very perverse fascinations in his day, and kept extensive FBI records on everyone. It was not just liberals he kept records on. He used information he gathered on conservative politicians, to maintain his power in the government including his conservative closeted gay friends. Hoover is the reason they passed the Freedom of Information Act.

    I once knew a woman who applied for a government job in the 1980s, she was in her 50s. They did not give her a job because they said she was a security risk. She had no idea why she would be a risk so she used the Freedom of Information Act to view her FBI records. In her records was a picture of her in a mini skirt at an anti war protest in San Francisco in the 1960s. She was labeled as a "provoke a tour" (sp). She was amused because she never engaged in war protests and was only at this war protest because her blind date and he took her to the protest. She had no idea this is re he was taking her.

    I am also very glad that the right's tactics did not work. They just cannot give up n the 60s because, like McCain, they continue to live in the past.

  • bungo pony

    Most of the bull shit put out by our government about the Weather Underground was and is untrue. No one was ever inured or killed by therr bombs except member of the Weather Underground, who blew themselves up making a bomb. The FBI blamed Ayers for this and he was no near the sight.

  • Farewell to the Baby-boomers

    Ayers not a terrorist? Give me a break!

    The issue is nostalgic looking backward by the baby boomers. In their minds they were the greatest generation of all time and everythong they accomplished is, therefore, praiseworthy.

    Bill Ayers was just one of the many "upset" youngsters whose criminal (and yes terrorist) actions are excused and even lauded.

    Certainly the Vietnam era was one of contradictions and hypocracy on ALL sides but the critical difference is some individuals worked for change within the system and applied only peaceful means for change. In fact, I beleive the real "heroes" of the Vietnam war were those conscripted soldiers who not only calimed to be "conscientous objectors" but who showed up and served their time in prison in protest of what they felt was an illegal war. This is not the same as claiming to be a pacifist and running to Canada or opting out entirely for a armed conflict agianst your own government.

    Does anybody not think that Timorthy McVeigh believed that becuase the US Governemtn was criminal in their actions at Waco that the carnage he caused was appropriate and just? No! he was a terrorist but at least he accepted his fate unlike Mr. Ayers who is a celebrity of the baby boomers and considered a prophet of the just in Chicago. Disgusting!

  • It was Farrakhan who called Obama “The Messiah”.

    bungo pony and others,

    It was Farrakhan who called Obama “The Messiah”. If you did not know about that is because you read, watch and read only the liberal media that was in the tank with Obama.

    And the episode about the nails bomb is very relevant to whom Ayers is: a terrorist and a wanna be murderer.

    Now Shapiro did not ask him about that because Shapiro wanted to present mellow and nostalgic Ayers who has become a “distinguished professor” and a friend of The Messiah.

    My point is that people tend to associate with, be friends with other people that are likewise minded.

    Obama had too many “associations” that are questionable.

    more right wing bull shit.

  • What a charade! Nail-bombs aren't used for blowing up buildings but to maim and murder.

    The IRA used them in Northern Ireland, with hideous results for those maimed by such a crude device. I suppose agent-prok-a-cure is Agent Provocateur, a brand of sexy underwear and very necessary for those wearing mini-skirts which have also featured in an article on Mr. Ayers who, of course, couldn't possibly be regarded as a terrorist.

    Anyway, "The Guardian" newspaper is reporting that Hillary Clinton has accepted the position of Secretary of State and Mr. Ayers can fade away into the sunset with all those old hippies and also George W. Bush.

    1) I don't listen to Farrakhan or care what he has to say.

    2) "And the episode about the nails bomb is very relevant to whom Ayers is: a terrorist and a wanna be murderer." - Are you suggesting that Ayers is still up to these things? Once again, nobody is denying his involvement.

    3) "Now Shapiro did not ask him about that because Shapiro wanted to present mellow and nostalgic Ayers who has become a “distinguished professor” and a friend of The Messiah." - Are you saying that this is not what Ayers has become. One more time; the interview was about today, not 35/40 years ago. The 60's are OVER.

    4) "My point is that people tend to associate with, be friends with other people that are likewise minded." - So, by your logic, McCain is a terrorist (Contras, G. Gordon Liddy) or a crook (Keating 5) and Palin is a secessionist (pals around with/sleeps in same bed with one). So, what's your point? Guilt-by-association is a slippery slope.

    5) "Obama had too many “associations” that are questionable." - Apparently not. Did you catch the election results?

    One more time, you lost.
