"One of the delicious ironies of being in Grant Park on Nov. 4, 2008, was that I was weeping for a lot of reasons. But one of them was that I couldn't help remembering 40 years earlier I was beaten bloody in that same park."

Is that statement by Ayers a true one? Was Ayers "beaten bloody"?

I ask because his Chicago mug shot from his arrest doesn't show a drop of blood or a single mark on the face of what appears to be a smug, smirking punk from the suburbs:

Walter Shapiro, you got any info on that? When was Bill Ayers ever "beaten bloody"? Or, is Ayers lying about that detail?
