Sarah Palin called him a terrorist, Barack Obama called him an acquaintance. A Salon editor who knew Ayers back when talks to the ex-Weather Underground member turned Republican talking point.

    I absolutely assure you, 98% of the population of Chicago, Baby Boomers or not, would not be able to tell you who William Ayers was 1 year ago, much less a prophet or a celibrity. Even now I doubt the vast majority have any knowledge of William Ayers outside of election talking points. Any "celebrity" status has been imparted by the right wing. Ayers can thank you for increasing his book sales.
