They think of themselves as wise humanitarians.
But, when they actually deal with other people, they are often dismissive and nasty, unless you both agree with them and share their high station in life. They are far more similar to Simon Legree than they are to Miss Daisey when they have help to deal with. I used to work on a trading floor run by what I would call alpha liberals, very smart men who maxed out their donations to Democrat Politicians. Each of these guys was worth tens of millions of dollars, each was fueled by a mad desire to become at least centi millionaires. You should have seen the way they treated the rest of us peons. They would scream and cuss at us for the slightest perceived infraction. People were screamed at and fired on the spot, grown men and women told to get out immediately with their possessions in a little cardboard box and tears streaming down their faces. Heaven help the attractive women on our floor. If they didn't put out they were sent packing.
So, if you disagree with liberalz, of course you must be insane or stupid. They are right and they know what's best for us.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, as you have noticed, they are what Stalin called "usefull idiots." First they destroy the economy with their cockamamee ideas, like giving mortgages to families with no credit records, and creating quasi government agencies with scores of bureaucrats making at least a million dollars per year, and who have their underlings bundle these bad mortgages into 'securities', and then they make believe that they are as good as treasury bonds. When these idiotic ideas (don't forget constantly raising taxes on "the rich") send our economy into the toilet and result in shortages and unemployment, that's when the real agents of change like Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and Hugo Chavez show up. Those librals stupid enough to protest the now heavy handed and utterly arbitrary redistributions are quickly eliminated or sent far away. By then, it has become very clear that eggs must be broken to make the sozializt omelette, and, of course, strong people are needed to enforce the necessary rules in a truly just society.
This is how we could loose all our precious freedoms and dignity, my friend, never mind the loss of any prosperity we once enjoyed, all thanks to the wonderful intentions of the alpha liberal class of intoolektuals, some of who, like Mister Nasty, Walter Map, like to congregate together at stalin.com.
