I watched Fox News for five hours last night

As Obama's victory became undeniable, Brit Hume moved beyond grief and anger with Karl Rove. And Juan Williams justified his existence.

The letters thread is now closed.

our local fox affiliate

didn't show Obama's speech.

they were too far into the latest Everybody Loves Raymond rerun to cut away.

Maybe later they re-ran the swift boaters stunt from 2004?

No one in the room *really* expected to see fucking Raymond when someone pulled the clicker to ask "how's Fox handling it?" We figured apoplexy, but not outright dismissal. To be so predictably so far out of it, wow. After we got done laughing, I think I had to kind of tip my cap to the bastards.

FOX news review

"...hung like a rancid moose cadaver"?--you're waxing poetical, duder. In Alaska's weather carcasses freeze, and a 2,000-pound moose won't hang anywhere. Quarter it and go for help. Enjoyed the article. Let's look toward a more virtuous time. The last eight years were interminable cancer.

Masochism

Watching Faux 'news' for FIVE HOURS?

Your IQ would have dropped 20 points!

Or did you leave your brain in the freezer?

Wow

Andrew my hat is off to you watching Fox for 5 hours take real guts. After just 5 Min's of Fox I get an urge to gargle and brush my teeth to get rid of the foul taste in my mouth. Then I have to run up and take a shower in order to feel clean again. Once Again WOW!

OH JUST WAIT.

"...Rove -- I'll say that again, Karl Rove -- struck a far more conciliatory tone,..."

Say, isn't he still being considered for some kind of indictment?

The Foxies might have struck a professional tone for a minute, but don't despair. They aren't going away anymore than Rove or Cheney or the rest of the neo-cons who sit in dark places and devise wicked schemes to drain the United States of wealth, treasure, and lives.

Everyone who is celebrating the demise of the GOP or the right-wing needs a wake-up call. They didn't die anymore than the left-of-left liberals who had the hand in gettting Obama to the White House. Both strains of bacteria are resistent to modern-day remedies.

Paul Ryan is GOP hack

During his interview on Fox, Wisconsin congressman and so-called "rising star" Paul Ryan promoted his Web site, americanroadmap.org. Here is an excerpt from the Social Security Reform section of that site:

"This proposal addresses the shortcomings of the current system and strengthens the retirement safety net by providing workers with the voluntary option of investing a portion of their FICA payroll taxes into personal savings accounts. Due to the higher rate of return received by investments in secure funds consisting of equities and bonds, these accounts would allow workers to build a significant nest egg for retirement that far exceeds what the current program can provide. Each account will be the property of the individual, and fully inheritable, which will allow workers to pass on their prosperity to their descendants."

Ouch. Paul Ryan - just another GOP hack.

Fox News

I'm not a North American, I'm a Brazilian. This election was electrifying for people all over the world. On election day I was " watching closely " CNN, Spanish CNN, BBC, TV5 and Fox. This channel - Fox - is very offensive and agressive to everybody. They are disrespecful of the people being interviewed, they have no respect for the audience, their " anchors " are like robots, they are deeply distasful. They interrupt, they bully , they shout, there's too much face lifting etc. It was fun to see their discomfiture anouncing Pres. Obama's inspiring election. BBC reporting was by far the best coverage, more comprehensive and not displaying the sort of pyrotechnics that CNN was airing. Today I read on the CNN website that Ms. Amanpour stated that " challenges remain ". Really? who would have thought so..... TV news people should be aware that they say a lot of silly and redundant things and not underestimate their audience.By the way, yesterday I wished I were North American! Congratulations to you all and welcome to the world's community again.

Alien Abductions

I watched Fox and must have been channel-surfing when these little backpedaling monents happened. I thought aliens had abducted the Fox regulars and replaced them with the most fair and professional journalists I had yet seen. Everything from the graphics to the split-second timing to the camera shots was spot-on.

Really? Karl Rove said "better angels of our nature"?

Just one question: What is card check?

I voted for Obama because of leadership. His specific proposals will weather a lot of reality, but I saw someone determined to unite this country under a banner of integrity. What amazed me was that that little concept -- integrity -- has been so, well, "alien" to this country for so long that its return came like a Biblical revelation. We've been so bitch-slapped around, degraded into "war" on this and that, and asked to grovel in naked self-interest for so long that it finally feels like fresh air of the kind I haven't breathed since 1979. "Always take the high road," this man says, and it smells of inspiration and possibility. The fact that this came from a black man just happens to partly reconcile our largest national guilt at the same moment, and it feels like catharsis.

my little tiny contribution to fox's downfall

Ever since brainless and his bunch of illiterate thugs stole the white house, i have been writing, and convinced others, to send emails to the companies which advertise on fox. Told them in plain words as long as they were on Fox i would never buy anything from them again even if i have to pay double at some mom and pop store. Did it work? Perhaps not. Did it give me satisfaction in kicking der Fuhrer Von Murdock in the genitalia? Absolutely!

@Grim

You wonder how Karl Rove can possibly stay afloat? It's really quite simple really - shit floats!!!

And he needs to be flushed!

@Bellatrix LeStrange

And by the way, didn't you get the memo that the war (or election) is over? Or do you just want to be The New Bush and arrogantly walk all over anybody who disagrees with you?

And don't gloat. You'll wind up losing everything that you have gained.

No class, no reaching out, no facts, no grace. You project your own nastiness onto Obama supporters. Didn't anyone ever tell you that doing the same thing again in the face of failure is insanity? And here you come, spewing failed talking points again (I'm betting ShawnMW in disguise).

You are the very definition of a "nasty piece of work". And nastiness lost.

If you want to work to fix the mess your favorites created, YOU need to moderate your attitude. We owe you nothing, especially given how mean, nasty, and vicious your side has been over the past eight years. Your side has screwed up royally, so you have no credibility. Our interest in common cause is to our benefit. But if you only wish to be evil, you can easily be ignored.

Stop lecturing and start listening, then you can contribute to common ground.
