I watched Fox News for five hours last night

As Obama's victory became undeniable, Brit Hume moved beyond grief and anger with Karl Rove. And Juan Williams justified his existence.

    filibuster

I watched Fox for awhile also. I don't normally do this; however, I just wanted to observe what they were saying.

While I watched, the big issue and their big fear, was the Senate, and whether the Republicans would retain the power to filibuster. Latest count indicates the Republicans won that one, at least for the next 2 years.

It will be interesting to observe what the new Congress will in fact be able to change given the past uncompromising nature demonstrated by the hard core right Senators. It is this (Republican) failure to work across the aisle that has in large part given Congress the negative approval rating it now receives, although many citizens just blame 'Congress'.

Hopefully public pressure will influence these characters. If not, Obama may not be able to accomplish much of the promised change until more of the right is thrown out in 2010.
