Not just a victory for blacks

I defended Obama throughout the campaign. Now that he is president elect I had hoped that we would quickly get over the shame of old white ladies fearing some uprising of angry black people. I'll try to quietly allow African Americans their moment in the sun, and hope I don't hear more of "down with white people" than I've heard already even if it's just an immature joke. I hope Salon will move on from it's "whitening expressions" and help us focus on the task at hand. We have a victory to celebrate because the oppressive policies and attitudes we've had to suffer for 8 years will no longer oppress the poor and middle class of ALL colors and creeds. Yes, Obama is 1/2 black, but we elected him to represent us all. Let Salon bring us articles that ask how we should move forward.
