I watched Fox News for five hours last night

As Obama's victory became undeniable, Brit Hume moved beyond grief and anger with Karl Rove. And Juan Williams justified his existence.

Why Did You Watch For Five Hours?

I'm not sure what your point is. I thought that their coverage of the election was quite good. They weren't indulging in the obnoxious Obama Worship that was causing me to get nauseated.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, your rumors of the death of the Republican Party are greatly exaggerated. Sure, it was a down year. The stock market crash in and of itself would cause any incumbent party disaster.

But quite frankly, the Republicans did not do NEAR as bad as a lot of people expected. While it was a decisive victory for Obama, it was NOT a landslide. A "landslide" would be if Obama had turned all but one or two states blue. McCain at least kept a solid grip on the South, and many of the states that he lost, like Florida, were squeekers. They were also gained by dredging up huge numbers of semi-literate people who were voting for him for one reason: Because he has black skin. Hardly a noble reason.

Also, the Dems fell well short of their 60-senator objective, and also feel short of objectives in the House of Reps.

Quite frankly, I think that a Hillary/Obama ticket WOULD have been a landslide, and it would also have captured more of the Congress.

But now begins Obama's real challenge, which I do not think he will do that well at. As a person with no experience whatsoever, he is going to have to take over the ship of state in the middle of a furious storm. And of course, he is still muttering about "change". Whatever THAT means.

Plus, despite all this blabbering about not owing anything to lobbyists, he is TOTALLY IN DEBT to the "Black Lobby". He was truly elected, in both the primary and the general, by his army of fanatical black followers. But what is he going to do to REPAY them? What CAN he do that will not alienate whites?

All in all, I wouldn't be quite so quick to measure Obama for Saint's robes. I think that he'll have a tough fight in 2010 as well as 2012.

Although I am honestly hoping that Obama does well, for the good of the country, I am not overly optimistic.

Obama has shown himself to be too arrogant, too divisive, and too much of a know-it-all. He also has virtually no executive experience whatsover. He has never had to meet a payroll or make a profit. He has been nothing but a Senatorial gasbag for most of his career. The speeches are marvy-pooh, if you like speeches (which I don't), but now it is time for action.
