  • It is time to bring down the vote peddling to fanatics

First, the Beagle of Doom hit it on the head! I had to read that comment twice to fully embrace the depth of his insight.

Second, American Christians need to ask themselves, Would God be against liberty and civil rights? Why would the church go against God?

Third: My 99.5 year grandma said, "I think all people should be treated equally, because,...she pauses....because they are people."

Lastly: Grandma said gay keep getting born and they are still here. New ones get born and they are here. She doesn't know what God is up too, but, grandma says that gays are people. She worries about the preachers who use their status to harm people.

  • @ Major Maurice

    I love your nanna.

  • Fear not!

someone I know told me that worry (fear) is a prayer for something you don't want .....think about it

we may lose the case for religion

but the door is now wide open for Spirituality

    think about it

    the "shalt not"

    was a laundry list

    to make way for

    "do unto others"

Fear not .... fear not .... fear not ...fear not ....fear not

  • Beagle of Doom Is Hitting On Something Big

Thanks Beagle. I love my nanna too. She is so amazing. Your comments about meeting Jesus are really quite profound. I don't know if you gave that some thought or if it just tumbled out of your sub-conscious, but, it is spot on. If we really want to meet Jesus, we would be out there in the streets, so to speak, taking risks. Not hiding behind theology and whatever else good Christians define as good.

My parting thought: What would God do? Would he be against civil rights, fairness, equality, liberty? So, lets coin a new phrase: WWGD.

    Power to the Beagle!

  • Hey Beagle! PrePaid Legal and the Religious Right

Hey Beagle, I sent this email out to everyone two days ago. How timely to read your comments. As an aside, Prepaid Legal of Washington State wrote me and asked me to remove them from my mail list. I thought they would be interested in civil rights, considering I am a member and they have such a huge membership base. You have inspired me Beagle. This is what I sent to my loved ones and all:

I recently read the latest Box Turtle Bulletin and learned something new, about Sen. Barry Goldwater. His voices rises from back in the day when Republicans actually believed in liberty for all.

This current mind set, which caters to the 'born-again' crowd, isn't concerned about religion. They just want the religious VOTE. The last time we had a socially conscience president was LBJ. Then Nixon came in- and brought in his vice and his self serving behavior to the Republican party and it spread to the Democrats too.

It seems politicians are afraid of losing the fanatical religious vote if they stand up and say, HEY! Liberty, civil rights, for ALL! Lets stop for a minute and ask ourselves, would God actually be against liberty and civil rights for all?

There is a small possibility that the Democrats have the first socially conscience nomination since LBJ. I am asking my friends to vote for a social conscience and I am asking my California and Arizona friends to vote No on Prop 8 and Prop 2. I have donated a small amount of money to these two Props so I am not asking you to do anything I wouldn't do.

So, get out and vote and vote for change. There is a good possibility we will see a truly socially conscience presidency.

  • Evangelical Christian conservatives have been a disaster for Christians in the Holy Land

Little coverage gets into American newspapers about the great damage done to the Christian communities in the Holy Land, by messianic Christians in the US. The majority of Christians have been driven out of the Holy Land, since the creation of Israel in 1948. Rev. John Hagee wants Israel to drive out the remaining Christians. The idiot in the White House exploited the Christian conservatives for reasons of crass personal gain.

  • What happens in the hereafter

First of all, sex is in. The risen, no pun intended, can have all the sex they want. The only socially transmitted disease is in the dirty minds of conservative preachers. There is no postmortem pregnancy. God does not have accidents. If you are admitted through the Pearly Gates you can have everything your little mind desires. Whether that's heaven or hell is up to you.

    Good Luck, megachurch.

  • Shonkin57- comments a few pages back..worth the look

I couldn't agree with you more. Evangelicals need to change their ways. You hit every point succinctly. I can't even find words to expound further. I am not often speechless, so, Thank you- very much.

  • influence and stupidity...

Well i hope that evangelical Christian have a influence in politics but not the kind of Christians who think Obama is going to turn the nation into a Muslim nation. Are you kidding me! I wonder if some people have any kinda of clue what's going on. I'm not a liberal illuminati but i know enough to realize that Obama is not the anti-Christ and despite some of his views that i strongly disagree with i do believe he would do a good job as president. but i guess we will find out what the nation really thinks on Tuesday. And if you want to get fair view of Colorado don't go to the Spring (a crazy conservative mecca -- go to Denver, it's more in-between. Bolder would you house for the liberal illuminati.) just so ya know.

  • Extreme Right Bush Administration ....

Has shifted and biased the median ....... now McCain is a liberal and Obama is a socialist ..... 20 years ago, Obama would have been a moderate republican ...... which just shows you how fascist the whole country has become.

  • Fundamentalist Views

While many Fundamentalists decry abortion (as do I), the logic of abstinence-only information, education for children or young adults is illogical and clearly ineffective, as unwanted pregnancies rise, while STD’s, the HIV-AIDS epidemic continue to rampantly increase.

While Bush and Cheney are out of sight, hoping to keep the back-lash of voter resentment away from McCain, they are still working behind the scenes to further deregulate air, water quality, fuel efficiency and environmental standards via proposed legislation, which will lead to more disease, allergies, and further peril for our environment. As a Christian, I know God gave mankind “dominion over the earth,” but did not intend us to destroy it for political ideology or avarice.

As for the socialist label given to Obama. Christians should read their Bible more carefully. When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. [Matt. 25: 31-46]
