  • Do ya loves Jayzus?

    Wanna meet him raht now?

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

  • @ cabdriver

Am I breezily forecasting or am I doom and gloom? You remind me of OJ's lawyers, who simultaneously asserted that the LAPD was incompetent and capable of complex conspiracy.

And then you compare me to Ted?

    Say, what's your address, cabdriver?

    I'm kidding, I'm kidding!

However, for an optimist, you're sure full of ad homs.

You wrote, "....it shallows the deep."

And that verbs the noun. Again, it's another ad hom. I'm shallow. I'm a killa. I'm gloomy, when I'm not breezily forecasting.

I just wish you were more fun and you could start by putting the ad homs down.

In the end, I hope you're right. I hope we can burn all the fuels we want with no consequences, even though it's too late for that, for our modern lifestyle has exterminated many species. Nevertheless, I hope our species isn't driven north and south and into extinction. I hope I'm wrong. I hope the thousands of scientists are wrong. I hope you're right. I hope you get to live long and prosper and dance your dance on my grave and pee on it too. And I hope your grandchildren don't have to suffer for our failings and greed.

As far as not knowing what real trouble is and how to face it, well, you're firing your salvos from your ass. Call me names. I can take it. However, assert that I don't know trouble and I'm done with you, silly man.

  • @ The Beagle of Doom

I get what you just wrote. If you really want to meet Jesus, you'll avoid hospitals. You'll embrace risk.

But alleged believers love hospitals. They avoid risk. Many live in gated communities because they don't want to meet Jesus, until they absolutely must.

  • THESE RELIGIOUS NUTS MAKE ME SICK

Most of these religious nuts got their information from the radio talking heads and FOX News (misnomer). They are misguided fools led by greedy rich folks. If they know so much about "heaven" please tell the rest of us what is going on. Even if the bible were true these idiots ruin it for everyone else that may really need hope. Anyone stupid enough to attend a church or religious gathering place these days is probably gullible enough to believe anything. I've got a Navy chaplin living next door to me. That dude is working a night job as an ultrasound technician making even more money and driving a government sedan home from work. He can be seen at home on his riding lawnmower most working days. Ain't America great!

  • Muslimizing America: Radicals Don't All come from the Middle East

"I'm afraid Obama is going to change our country into a Muslim country," said Melody Edwall,

Coming from Colorado Springs, I don't know why I was particularly shocked by this statement made by a member of the New Life Church. I have some experience with that church, having sung at a couple of high profile (police) funerals there. Being a practicing Catholic, these were somewhat surreal experiences. My interactions with church administrators/employees were very gracious; and of course, being a Catholic, one who is not really considered "christian" by many fundamentalist denominations, I would not have been privy to such radical statements.

And, radical is just what that statement is. If you believe or even academically acknowledge the Old Testament, you will admit that even the biblical writers upheld the belief that God did not deny His relationship with any of his created peoples. Israel was His "first born", but, God did proclaim, through Abraham and Jacob, that Ishmael and Esau would be the fathers of great nations. But, it appears the radical sects of the religious denominations, who uphold the Old Testament, do not follow in God's path. Radical Israel denies the existence of a Palestinian state, radical Muslims seek to destroy Israel, Christians and anyone else deemed heathen, and, apparently, members of the New Life Church believe Baraq Obama will dismantle the constitution and turn this country into a Muslim state.

There is no difference between radical Muslims who seek to destroy the western world, because they perceive us as trying to destroy their theocracies and turn them into good, democratic countries, and radical Christians, who think that Obama is going Muslimize America. Illogically, unreasonably, unbelievably absurd. But, radicals, from any hemisphere, are all the same.

  • The Flaw Shared By All Evangelicals

The popularity of any one individual Evangelical Church or congregation is 100% dependent on the personality of the Pastor. These "Bible Churches" lose or gain members based on how popular or unpopular the Pastor and his personality rate with members. They also share the flaw of many reformist churches and that is that the Bible is the infallible word of God, written by God. It's interesting that in the Orthodox Catholic and Roman Catholic Churches the Bible is not the center piece of those respective churches. The Gospel is read at Liturgy and Masses, and it is the word of God and unquestioned by those that practice the faith. But Bible study has never been a strong part of either Catholic faction. The reason is quite simple, under pressure from Emperor Constantine the church was ordered to compile the story of Jesus and his message in a book that was to be the basis of understanding of the Christian Religion. There was never universal agreement as to what ‘stories’ made the book and which were rejected. The Bible is at best a compromise with good intention to portray Christian beliefs and the message of Christ. It was also intended to define and set the power of a manmade power base of ‘Organized Religion’. I believe in the Bible as a guide as to how to lead my life, but the message is only reveled when the entire content of the Bible is used to reach decisions, not just one passage or line. Even prior to the written Bible Saul (St Paul) decided that to grow converts to Christianity it was not helping the cause if converts first had to become converts to Judaism. Christ was a practicing Jew; the path to Christianity is a progression through Judaism. Not many grown men were keen to be circumcised to have to convert. So Saul did away with over 800 Jewish laws to make it easier to convert pagans to Christianity. In Leviticus he keeps the passage that dealt with “a man lying with a man”, but did away with not eating shellfish or pork. The point is that all organized religion is flawed, and to base everything without question on the Bible, written by man, can lead to conflicts of God’s true intentions on how we should live. Evangelicals seem to have more hate that love for the fellow man than any other Christian religion. They also seem to place more on intentions rather than results, and maybe that explains the popularity of this religion. Compare the core of Evangelical beliefs to the Sermon on the Mount, seems to me that the is a disconnect between the Evangelicals and the tenets of the Sermon on the Mount.
