Why is it that if a person doesn't vote for B Obama they are a racist? I know several individuals that are "pretending" to vote for Obama because they can't stand the personal attacks on their character, the vandalism of their property or the general air that they are stupid for having a difference of opinion. Obama supporters are vocal and bully the weak for support. I have never seen an election ticket whose followers are so willing to attack people of opposing views. Obama supporters have a right to be proud of their candidate, but they don't have the right to spread slanderous lies that those who disagree are racist or ignorant.
I personally am not voting for Obama because HE does not support cutting (or halting) government spending. The government bloat and the poor politics of Barney Frank and Countrywide got us in the current mess. Obama's ideas have no chance of getting us out.
Nothing about Barrack Obama's policies are racist and nothing about my decision not to vote for him is based on race.
Yea, it's right in the title. Any retirees in that crowd returning their checks? Even McCain receives a $1900 check from the SSA every month. Their hypocrisy is so blatant and multifaceted--but of course it's not about rational discourse, is it?
In McCain's favor, it is pretty hard to claim that McCain has been vindicated by anything lately.
Arlen Specter was openly -- in public, into a microphone -- crossing his fingers, and hoping for racism.
Ms. Traister, are we then to believe all Obama voters are misogynists for not voting Hillary? Are black voters for Obama racist against McCain? It is a fact that most polls in the primary elections were wrong. What is to say the polls are right now? I find it interesting that you would mention racism when nothing about race was mentioned by Mr. Specter. How can any honest thinking american look at this man being so close to the highest office in our country and then make charges of racism? The mere fact Mr. Obama is in this position shows racism is little more than a modern day witch hunt. The cavalier way you write this into your article could also be considered a modern day "black listing" of Mr. Specter. If Mr. Obama is to lose, which by the way would be the third Democratic loss in a row, then maybe the party needs to look at their proposed policy. Racism would be a nice scapegoat along with the stolen and swift boater elections. The Democrat party would be better served by looking at their proposed policies that lose elections instead of inding the nearest scapegoat. Then again, that would mean accepting personal responsibility.

Nice try, BFranklin, but Specter's statement had to do with pollsters. Unless you're claiming that pollsters have been making personal attacks on the character of those who give the wrong answers, your point is lost.
kry: You seem to be unaware of the Bradley Effect, which means you haven't paid much attention during this election cycle. Or maybe Traister could have made her point more clearly. But it seems obvious that Specter was referring to the Bradley Effect and not some other phenomenon known only to himself.
It seemed awfully clear to me, even on first read, that Specter's comment was yet another reiteration of the "Bradley Effect," about which much fuss has been made lately. If that's the case, then yes, his words could easily be interpreted to mean that he was "hoping for racism."
You say: "The government bloat and the poor politics of Barney Frank and Countrywide got us in the current mess"
You probably mean: The abysmal incompetence shown during 8 long and miserable years by the current REPUBLICAN administration got us in the current mess"
On the day President Bush was sworn in, the debt stood at $5.7 trillion. Less than eight years later, the debt is within days of having swelled $5 trillion dollars on his watch - an embarrassing milestone for a president who considers himself a conservative and an advocate of fiscal discipline.
You are probably one of those who voted Bush over McCain in 2000, Bush over Gore the same year, and Bush over Kerry in 2004.
YOU are partly responsible for bringing our economy to its knees! You and your buddies know this deep down your consciences - but try to run away from the reponsibility by blaming the trees, the birds, the weather, Obama's aunt.
You are a pathetic bunch of wussies. After your triple vote for the most incompetent president in history, even an imbecile with an IQ of 0.5 would not trust republicans' judgement!

bfranklin1787: I couldn't agree with you more. Copy and paste into Google the following title of an article I found on another site. I know it may sound weird, but read it. "Right Truth: An Examination of Obama’s Use of Hidden Hypnosis." As paranoid as this many sound, please read it and share it. What also makes sense is why I'm not affected - I cannot be hypnotized (have tried before and it doesn't work on me). I've noticed his unusual way of speaking and just thought his was his style; very slow with a pause every four words or so, and constant repetition of specific words.
You have to read the reason WHY people seem so consumed with Obama. I have experienced this myself with people at work and even my own son, who is usually very loving. These people are hostile about their love and commitment to Obama, and I find this blind faith to be so unusual considering all the many unanswered questions about his past, his affiliations with unsavory people and his policies. When have you ever seen this many people to be just crazy about someone who is planning to increase the power of government, increase taxes, stop talk radio and start up a civilian army? Why are people not more concerned about his past relationships with terrorists and sleazy types like Rezko? Why does no one question why Farrakah and his followers think Obama is The Messiah? Doesn't this strike anyone else as just a little bit strange? I was really shocked recently at his new ad requesting people to take a day off work or school to campaign for Obama! WHAT is going on? What's worse is that it looks like all this has worked so well, he is going to win. God bless us all.
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
