A scary Halloween with Sarah Palin

In central Pennsylvania, the Republican base is afraid of Obama, and lost in fever dreams of a neo-Soviet nightmare. But it's all in God's hands.

Selling fear

That has been the one successful aspect of the McCain-Palin campaign.

It's in Gods' Hands

So...when Obama wins it must be the way God wants it. You McCain and Palin supporters will have to accept it. His will be done and all that malarky.

Be afraid....

.... KILLER COMMIE TURNIPS are coming to make you marry a homosexual!!!!

The right wing zipped past cartoonish and is apparently heading right for bull goose looney.

So how is the theocracy their trying to create any less opressive then the "socialism" they are so afraid of?

I keep asking this question on my local newspapaer website and either get no response or denial (all while continuing to support oppresing gays and calling for the ten comandments be put up in every government building). When they are ready to actually address their own oppressive policies, then I might consider taking their concerns seriously. Until then, I'll just continue to call them hypocrites.

Republicans Revealed

From where I sit, the GOP handwringing about straw men and phantasmic threats from an Obama presidency illuminates how truly cowardly most conservatives are these days. Quick to discard diplomacy; quick to feed the flesh, blood and bone of other people's children into the machinery of discretionary war; quick to embrace testosterone-laden rhetoric to whip the uninformed public into a froth. They are the last, however, to lead by example. They are the most dangerous form of REMF--the policymaking variant.

America, beware the fool who shrieks at his own shadow.

ah, ignorance

Rebecca. Assuming all goes reasonably well in the next four years, and Obama does meaningful things that improve our collective lot significantly, it'd be great to have you talk to these same sorts of people in two years, or four.

I'd love to hear them eat their own words. Poor, ignorant Americans. If Obama does even half of what he wants to do, those people are going to be very, very confused.

scary for sure

Why do they think they know McCain? He has lied and flip flopped through it all. When his back is against the wall he pulls out half truths to uses parts of sentences, most recently, Biden's comments about being tested.

The Red Cross worker who thinks Palin ran the country should read what people in the office said, Todd was the one in control she was the talking Barbie just pull her string. She didn't raise the children, others do and did. The only part that is true is that she's female. So am I and I know I can't run the country any more then she's capable.

I understand the wardrobe & make up shouldn't be an issue, but a person can't put on a facade and not have it fall down on them. She claims she didn't know. Being uninformed about what's going on around you, when you're in that position, is not acceptable.

Anyone who sits in "that seat" is going to be tested no matter who they are. No one knows McCain either, but we have seen his anger and contempt that someone should challenge him. He didn't have the gonads to go after Hillary in the same way because he knew she was part of the old guard so to speak. Well, Obama has his guard too as McCain is experiencing. Obama doesn't have to hire people to pretend to be attacked by a Big White Man as McCain did. McCain & Palin have pushed for a new racial divide, note the skin heads who REALLY were going to abuse and murder. What has McCain said about either of those instances? Palin, did she address it? I haven't seen words from either of them. They are the ones behind this, maybe not directly but from their negative campagning.

What makes you think they will let you win?

Honestly you are precious. Just precious. They will win by hook or by crook or the Supreme Court. Palin will be President this time next year. Bring a sweater, those concentration camps up in Alaska get cold.

Ludicrous

Amazing to see the paranoia and fear leached into the very bones of these poor people. The same people who've had their pockets picked not by socialists or communists they so irrationally fear, but by the very one-party rule of the Republican Party they support without hesitation. They represent the triumph of the will of the GOP over the past 50 years, a propaganda coup of the first order.

Ironic that some fear Palin's assassination. Given our country's history of political assassinations, and who tends to fall before them, that's a sick joke coming from the party that stole not one but two presidential elections. They are the ones who refuse to accord legitimacy to the opposition, the ones who see a Democratic administration as occupation by a foreign power. It's sick stuff.

I hope that Obama's administration would bring enough economic benefit to these benighted souls that hopefully their children would benefit from it (I don't expect these ideologues to ever give credit to a Democratic administration). Or maybe they'll just homeschool themselves a Christian fascist army and try to take over the country once they lose again and again at the polls.

That's the heartbreak of the whole enterprise -- the groundwork has been laid by the GOP for so long, their partisanship and demagoguery spread so thick and wide, that it poisons the whole process, divides the country against itself, so that even if Obama manages a landslide, the "war" won't be over, the "fight" will continue unabated. Ignorance is the only alternative, renewable energy source the GOP truly embraces.
