Amazing to see the paranoia and fear leached into the very bones of these poor people. The same people who've had their pockets picked not by socialists or communists they so irrationally fear, but by the very one-party rule of the Republican Party they support without hesitation. They represent the triumph of the will of the GOP over the past 50 years, a propaganda coup of the first order.
Ironic that some fear Palin's assassination. Given our country's history of political assassinations, and who tends to fall before them, that's a sick joke coming from the party that stole not one but two presidential elections. They are the ones who refuse to accord legitimacy to the opposition, the ones who see a Democratic administration as occupation by a foreign power. It's sick stuff.
I hope that Obama's administration would bring enough economic benefit to these benighted souls that hopefully their children would benefit from it (I don't expect these ideologues to ever give credit to a Democratic administration). Or maybe they'll just homeschool themselves a Christian fascist army and try to take over the country once they lose again and again at the polls.
That's the heartbreak of the whole enterprise -- the groundwork has been laid by the GOP for so long, their partisanship and demagoguery spread so thick and wide, that it poisons the whole process, divides the country against itself, so that even if Obama manages a landslide, the "war" won't be over, the "fight" will continue unabated. Ignorance is the only alternative, renewable energy source the GOP truly embraces.
