Wonder how the McCain team will spin this?
Maybe something like this: "The AIP has never fire bombed anyone, unlike William Ayers, who is a very close friend of Barack Hussein Obama. The AIP are God-fearing, law-abiding Alaska frontiersmen, unlike the mysterious Barack Hussein Obama. Last, the AIP are law-abiding, card-carrying members of the NRA who believe in the Second Amendment, something no one can say with certainty is supported by terrorists-supported Barack Hussein Obama."
For good measure, maybe McCain's team will break out the photo of Barack Hussein Obama in ceremonial garments -- including a turban -- in Kenya.
Lower than whale doo-doo on the bottom of the ocean. That's where McCain's camp will go.
Let Alaska secede from the United States; indeed, encourage them. Sign no mutual defense pacts, and treat them with the same contempt that they show toward the lower 48.
Then let Russia take them over; a natural consequence of proximity and even history. Diplomacy and mutual interests will prevent Russia from becoming a threat to the rest of North America, and Russia's acquisition of Alaskan oil would be insignificant in comparison with ridding America of a primitive population with nothing of substance to contribute.
It goes without saying, of course, that the Russians would utterly destroy Alaska's natural beauty, but there would be little difference from the devastation that the Alaskans themselves would produce.
I'm quite serious about this.
“Yes. The War of Northern Aggression, or the Civil War, or the War Between the States — however you want to refer to it — was not about slavery, it was about states’ rights.”
And he's absolutely right.
Now I know most of you think anyone who would think Alaska should be independant is a bit off kilter but consider how a long time Alaskan would view the treatment of the state and it's citizens by the US government since admission to the union.
Most of the states in the lower 48 have been around a long long time. They have enjoyed a couple of hundred years to build their infrastructure. Such infrastructure being imperative to the development and usefulness of the land and resources and to the economic base of each state. Alaska was promised a portion of it's lands as statehood entitlement lands as were most other states. Today, fifty years after Alaska was admitted to the state that promise still remains unfulfilled. In effect the US government, due to not tranferring ALL the promised lands to Alaska, has abrograted the statehood contract, thus defaulting on the necessity for Alaskans to carry through with that acceptance of statehood.
The majority of Alaska lands are still in the hands of the US federal government. Locked out of access to and development by the citizens of Alaska.
You certainly don't find this in the eastern states where the percentage of land owership by any government is very low. Almost non-existant. Most of the land is privately owned and thus is productive and contributing to the economy of the local citizens and thus contributing to the operation of government by the taxes it collects from those economic activities and land ownership.
Western states know this problem more acutely as a lot of western lands are still in the hands of the feds. But all of them have had their entitlement lands transferred to them and enjoy the fruits of that ownership.
This is only ONE of the problems Alaska has with being a part of the US. But this shows that the US has not been equitable with the greatest state and why a lot of it's citizens would like to separate and enjoy all of the opportunities that those in the other states take for granted.
And that bridge to nowhere....where did the first road in the 13 colonies go?
How the hell do you expect people to open and develop new lands and build new cities, towns, and homes if there is no way to get to them. You have your roads. WHERE ARE OURS???
If you don't understand the problem you should not be expousing your views.
Alaskan for Independence
The subject is all I have to say.
It seems your trying to take the heat off Obama by writing this trashy expose. You guys blew your wad early on Palin, none of this will stick Max, Obama is in trouble.
Charles Krauthammer wrote in TownHall on 10/9: "It is hard to think of any presidential candidate before Barack Obama sporting associations with three more execrable characters."
Both McCain and Palin, as this article notes, have far worse problems.
Joe Vogler, murdered in a 1993 plastic explosives deal gone bad was the founder of the secessionist Alaska Independence Party to which Todd belonged. In 1991 Joe said, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won't be buried under their damn flag. I'll be buried in Dawson (Canada). When Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home."
11% of all Sarah’s 2002 contributions were from the campaign finance laundry of convicted criminals and Ted Stevens’ friends, Veco’s Bill Allen and Rick Smith.
Sarah’s spiritual advisors are a collection of creationists, Jew haters, homophobes and witch hunters, conversing in “tongues.” Ed Kallins, David Brickner, Thomas Murthee.
Regarding McCain:
G. Gordon Liddy has donated $5,000 to McCain’s campaigns since 1998, including $1,000 in February. McCain has appeared on Liddy’s radio show as recently as May. An online video includes an 11/8/07 discussion between Liddy and McCain, whom Liddy described as an “old friend.” McCain praised Liddy’s “adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great,” said he was “proud” of Liddy, and said that “it’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program.”
Liddy served four and a half years in prison in connection with his conviction for his role in the break-ins at Watergate and the office of the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg and acknowledged preparing to kill someone during the Ellsberg break-in “if necessary.” He plotted to murder journalist Jack Anderson and with a “gangland figure” to murder Howard Hunt to stop him from cooperating with investigators; plotted to firebomb the Brookings Institution; and to kidnap “leftist guerillas” at the 1972 Republican Convention. Liddy reportedly said he had named his shooting targets after Bill and Hillary Clinton.
After Liddy listened to Hitler on the radio, he said it "made me feel a strength inside I had never known before. Hitler's sheer animal confidence and power of will sent an electric current through my body."
On August 26, 1994 – Liddy said, “Now if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you and they are bearing arms, resist them with arms. Go for a head shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests." ... "They've got a big target on there, ATF. Don't shoot at that, because they've got a vest on underneath that. Head shots, head shots.... Kill the sons of bitches. September 15, 1994 - If the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms insists upon a firefight, give them a firefight. Just remember, they're wearing flak jackets and you're better off shooting for the head.
Ayers has not been tried for anything, even plotting he may have done when Obama was 8 years old. Ayres was expelled from the Weathermen in 1976 for being too moderate.
Tony Rezko? Hey, Charles Keating!
McCain’s chief economic advisors? Deregulator Phil Gramm and Fred Malek, Nixon’s Jew hunter. Randy Scheunemann, who engineered getting Bush to invade Iraq and wants to start one with Iran is McCain’s chief foreign policy advisor.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright? Wright’s got nothing on Rod Parsley, John Hagee, Pat Robertson and Bob Jones III.
