Meet Sarah Palin's radical right-wing pals

Extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll helped launch Palin's political career in Alaska, and in return had influence over policy. "Her door was open," says Chryson -- and still is.

The letters thread is now closed.

Winston Churchill lost the first post-war election in Britain because housing was the priority of the voter after much of their cities lay in ruins

Socialism arrived in the form of the Labour Party and in the last 60 years or so the Labour Party has been in power for about 26 years, including Tony Blair's "New Labour" which is a strange hybrid, considering that Blair supported Bush wholeheartedly in the invasion of Iraq.

Americans might learn to love Socialism which, from the European experience, has more to do with "social engineering" than anything else. Hypocrisy can be fascinating, you know. Tony and Cherie Blair were advocates of state schools but, oddly enough, sent their own children to fee-paying schools. The Labour Party's anti-privilege fulminations hasn't stopped it nominating its chums (nicer word than "pals", perhaps) for the House of Lords and the UK is still a monarchy with every Prime Minister, "socialis" or not, kow-towing to the Queen. It's much better for you to laugh than to cry and, after all, Cuba is believed to have an excellent health system. Elections are a waste of time anyway as, in the modern world, the media decides on the winner.

Socialism in America? Come in, the water's lovely. The European one is sort of tepid but the American version is bound to be more "authentic".

Salon, please write an article explaining the manufactured ACORN "controversy."

It is apparent from many letters here that people are falling for the contrived and nonsensical ACORN "controversy." It's complete bunk, and it needs to be exposed. Josh Marshall of "Talking Points Memo" explains it well: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/223436.php

There is no voter fraud going on. There is registration fraud, which is a very different thing. Low-paid ACORN workers are paid by ACORN for every voter they register, and some are ripping off ACORN by making up fake registrations. However, just because an ACORN worker makes up a fake registration for "Jebediah Hellzapoppin Pumpkinbrain, of 69 Hoochiemama Drive," does not mean that on election day this imaginary person will magically come to life and vote.

The fraud is against ACORN, not the electorate. This is what the people who are buying into this non-controversy do not understand.

Proving the Polls Right

How pathetic!

While no own in the media except conservative news organizations are willing to cover the Ayers matter and other radical associations of the putative next president of the US, Salon and others in the MSM are willing to dig dirt on Palin.

Yesterday, I read a poll that said of Obama, Biden, McCain and Palin, the public felt by wide margins she was getting a raw deal in the media, while the others (including McCain!) were being treated fairly.

Why not spend you "column inches" exploring Obama's radical education agenda as showcased by the $$$ he dished out while Chairman of the CAC on which he served under the tutelage and mentorship of his radical terrorist buddy.

Palin is "the million dollar baby" and she will triumph. Your attacks only make her stronger.

Camille Paglia has made asses of all of you, btw!

GUESS GOVERNMENT IS OKAY WHEN YOU OWN IT!

Why is that all Republicans want to do away with all government programs that benefit everyone except them and their friends? They never met a tax cut or tax credit from the government they didn't want - or like. They use government to line their own pockets at the expense of the country, the states, and their local municipalities. They deliberately wreck government's credibility so voters will be turned off, stay home, and in the end, leave them alone while they rob us blind.

Gays, guns, religion are all just smoke and mirrors issues to keep people wound up.

I remind Mr. Chryson that the Civil War was NOT about states' rights - unless, of course, owning other humans and working them to death was something these states thought to be okay. And it was thought to be okay by the wealthy landowners of the South who were looking to protect their economy.

Did Mr. Chyrson ever wonder why states like Lousiana and Mississippi rank at the bottom of the barrel for practically everything (education, health care, obesity, income, etc.)since Reconstruction? Well, it's not because of the the North!

Who will protect Alaskans from Russia when they secede? LMAO Sarah Barracuda and her 15 assorted variety of hand guns and moose rifles? These people are tripping!

Hey wcarlijr

The authors do not make the connections they impy(see my earlier letter, 'A Cleverly Written Article") This is a common form of argumentation. It's used in debates, televison shows (yes, Sean Hanity uses it, so does Keith Olbermann) and often on web sites. It gets the reader nowhere. Your point is what?

Meet the family!

This Chryson guy is pretty unremarkable, a typical Ted Nugent fan that you will likely meet in any factory, or office in the rust belt. I did find one comment interesting, that he had "just" a 9mm pistol. Folks, correct me if I'm wrong, but that is a f*cking cannon! What does he pack on special occasions? A bazooka?

Some polls may be biased!!!

Polls are based on registered voters. Thus if it is reported that there is a increase in democratic voters via "ACORN", the polling results would also reflect the shift in party affiliation.

“Whenever a storm brews for Obama, the media ratchets up its cheerleading, and those in the tank for him do whatever they can to protect him. That’s why we’ve also noticed the polling companies changing their party ID samples in the last two or three weeks, upping Democrats’ party ID to 50% in some polls, and dropping Republicans down to just 20%, with 30% Independent. If you look at this critically, you’d see that Democrats have never enjoyed more than a 4% historical party ID advantage. In 2006, a year that Democrats RAGED against both Bush and the sex-scandal plagued GOP (Mark Foley, Larry Craig, and other characters), Democrats had just a 3% party ID advantage. All of this means polls should be using samples with 39% Democrats, 35% Republican, and 26% Independent.”

Rasmussen Reports:

“Like all polling firms, Rasmussen Reports weights its data to reflect the population at large (see methodology). Among other targets, Rasmussen Reports weights data by political party affiliation using a dynamic weighting process. During the final two months of Election 2008, party weighting targets are updated each Sunday (see additional information). For polling data released during the week of October 5-11, 2008, the partisan weighting targets used by Rasmussen Reports will be 39.3% Democratic, 33.3% Republican, and 27.4% unaffiliated.”

Thus, Rasmussen shows a much closer race than other polls.
