Meet Sarah Palin's radical right-wing pals

Extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll helped launch Palin's political career in Alaska, and in return had influence over policy. "Her door was open," says Chryson -- and still is.

A clever job of literary "Leap Frog"

A cleverly written piece.

By linking Chryson (a member of AIP) to Stroll (is he a member of AIP?) and then linking Stroll to Palin (she attempted to get him a place on the Wasilla City Council) the authors suggest a working connection between Palin and Chryson. Mixing it up with vague relationship verbiage such as, “Palin backed Chryson as he successfully advanced…”, the authors never really pin down what the relationship is. For example, if I support a new law, does that mean that I back the person who proposed that law or rather that I merely support that a law be passed? The two are very different.

The question remains: Did Palin ever back Chryson? The authors don’t say this but they imply. There are several more “leap frog” writing tricks hidden in the piece.

Clearly this is not reporting, but rather, a piece of stealth political advocacy for Senator Obama.

Republican Schizophrenia

The split in the Republican party is starkly illustrated in the McCain campaign. It isn't any secret that McCain preferred Lieberman or Ridge for a running mate but when the party intervened and strongly suggested Palin, he chose to compromise himself rather than pursue winning over independents.

There are two Republican parties: the one that touts fiscal responsibility, non-intervention, and no nation building, and the other that marches to the beat of god, guns, gays and stocking up on K-rations.

You could see William F. Buckley's eyes glaze over when the subject of guns came up. His position was that the government will always have better weapons than you.

No wonder Buckley's son endorsed Obama today.

A loada hooey

Pretty weak stuff.

'Joe Vogler, dangerous radical.....' was killed in 1993, 2 years before Todd Palin went near the AIP.

'AIP, radical group..' never did one thing but talk. No bombs, no explosions.

'Vogler was killed by another secessionist....' No, he was killed by a goofball who joined the AIP to get close to Vogler so he could rob him. Vogler was a miner and, like all of them, was rumored to have gold buried in mayonnaise jars.

'Palin joined the AIP in 1995....' think about this for a second. In 1995, ANWR finally passed both houses of Congress and went to the President's desk where it was vetoed by Clinton. One man, with the stroke of a pen, wiped out billions of dollars in jobs and value for citizens of this state. Todd Palin wasn't the only one who was disappointed with Washington.

'Radical right-wing pals....' Please. The AIP is so radical they have 13,000 registered voters in a state has 60,000 Democrats. Why is the AIP popular? Check your history on Alaska statehood. In 1959, Congress granted statehood to Alaska and then kept 2/3 of the land for the US government. Included in the land they kept was ANWR, much of the SE Alaska logging forests, oil land on the North Slope, millions of acres of prime land all over the state.

'Sarah filmed a welcome video for AIP...' And she has done them for other radical groups like the Girl Scouts and the Alaska Federation of Natives. That's her job.

'I went to see Sarah....' Yeah, so what? Wasilla, as everyone knows, is a small town. Everyone knows her out there and across the state.

Jesus. Is this the best you can do?

Hey now

Even Glenn Saint Greenwald defended Matt Hale. And he's a lot crazier and violent than Vogler.

Inciting Riots

Words have consequences. From 1858-1928 596 Mexicans were lynched in the Southwest. The Palin/McCain innuendos are splitting the nation, and they are weakening the democratic process. Their harshness has polarized the communities. In an effort to repair the damage, at the next debate Obama should answer questions about Ayers and Wright. However, in the interest of fair play, McCain should also answer questions about:

1- his participation in an anti-Semite organization in the 1980s that also had associations with the Pioneer Fund and the death squads in Central America.

2- His association with a Republican delegate who in his presence praised a woman who shot a physician who performed abortions.

3. His asking and getting the endorsement from a rabidly anti-Catholic minister

4. The accusation made by former Vietnam POWs that he was a songbird.

5. Address the context of temper tantrums widely documented on You Tube

6. Palin's husband's membership in the Alaska secessionist party, and her friendship with its founder who has said he hates America and brags openly about the arsenal he has in his basement

7. The views of Palin's church toward Catholics and Jews.

8. Palin's attending and participating in witch cleansing ceremonies.

Then when this is over both parties should promise to concentrate on the economy. McCain and Palin's campaign via innuendos amounts to cowardliness, and it has already contributed to violence against the other.

thanks salon

not since the first crazy wave of anti palin knee jerk reaction that erupted from the left in the wake of the palin nomination has one person who didn't instantly love her or the opposite change their mind.

it doesn't matter how many articles you write about her. your readers aren't going to vote for her.

keep trying though.

Wrong

*** Palin's husband's membership in the Alaska secessionist party, and her friendship with its founder who has said he hates America and brags openly about the arsenal he has in his basement ***

AIP was founded by Joe Vogler. He has been dead since 1993.

New World Order equals

. . . Aryan Nations. After living in the Great Pacific NW, primarily Oregon and Washington, for the bulk of my life, I've come to understand that whenever one hears the term "New World Order" the speaker believes in the nonsense put forth by Aryan Nations.

See, I'm one of those nice people who will talk to anybody at a wedding or event of any sort. And, I'm too nice to be rude when someone corners me intent on promoting their political beliefs. I'm an easy target, and therefore hear a lot of crap I wish I hadn't. But, take my word on this: when cornered by a such a person in Oregon or Washington or Idaho spouting warnings about government surveillance in the home, soon to follow are comments about Jews in government and the inevitable term "New World Order." And, if they've had a bit too much beer, eventually full-blown racism leaks out. All this is followed up by misty thoughts about moving to Alaska where there's a party that's going to "take over" and "do something about the danger to our kind." The Alaskan Independence Party.

Ms. Palin is dangerous in more ways than we can imagine.
