Should anybody think of Israel as their "child"?

The most profoundly disturbing point in this post is that anyone, Jewish or otherwise, thinks of Israel as "their child." Israel is a nuclear power, and its problems today as distinct from those in 1948, are that it is occupying someone else's land. To cast this as scenario as having to protect one's "child" is to be so out of touch with reality, regardless of how important sentiment is to human existence, as to sit squarely within the bizarre.

Second, the idea that "every vote counts" in Florida, while true enough, should not mean that candidates pander to a sliver of Jewish America--i.e. a handful of elderly Jews in Miami Beach.

Third, it's ridiculous to the point of absurdity for any candidate running for election in the United States to try and pander to any "love" for a foreign nation state, whether it is for Israel or one's long lost island of Cuba. No one should be pandering to people like those in the Cuban American community in Miami who would still like the greenlight to invade the island.

This is not politically healthy. Period.
