the Nevada GOP has been under seige by Libertarians, Ron Paul beat McNasty in NV..Las Vegas is a giant urban sprawl of migrants, plumb turf for Obama..
I think Obama will beat McNasy by a comfortable margin. I guess you had to write about something though...
...perchance, is that a reference to a particularly riotous segment of that classic rocker of a movie, "Heavy Metal"?
As to bloc hispanic [/latino] voting, I agree with the other letter writer and I mentioned that in an another post several months ago.
On the east coast, Puerto Ricans'll likely go, statistically, for Obama. With Dominicans, it'll be closer--more like 50-50 with a slight nod to McCain. And Cubans--even counting the increasingly influential younger, American born [2nd generation Native]--will go overwhelmingly for McCain. Mexicans, Central and South Americans could be an x-factor although still too statistically small to measure their impact here on the east coast.
Obama will get 330 EVs easily. Nevada or no Nevada.
It'd be nice, but I think Indiana is more important.
yea, after all liberal activists worked out well for Howard Dean in Iowa didn't they? And those moveon.org commericals with Soros money in 2004,that worked out phenominally too didn't it. How about the same bay area gasbags in Nevada during the primaries trying to thug everyone into voting for Obama? How'd that work out? But you gave Nevada's numbers to Obama anyway. What the hell,it's not like hispanic folk are smart enough to remember.
The person above got it right.Hispanics are REAL leftwingers, what leftwingers SHOULD be. They don't give a damn about gay marriage or hybrid cars. They care about education for their kids and upward mobility. The eeeeeevul Reeepubleeecan DLC tried to tell you that a decade ago.
Also - it's worth noting that you're not the only ones trying to motivate voters out and register them. The evangelical rightwing churches are doing the same thing in full force and if history is anything to go by they're a hell of a lot more effective at it.
Like maybe having a place like a church to go to where you can spew to 100 or 1000 persons a time isn't such a bad idea after all.
Local news reports here in Reno say Obama's morning rally on the campus of UNR drew 12,000 people.
This afternoon, McCain's campaign announced ( without explanation ) that McCain was cancelling a previously schedule Reno appearance this Thursday.
Maybe he wants to be in St. Louis to watch Caribou Barbie debate Joe Biden. . .
Reno is my hometown. I love it more than any place on Earth. You can't cover up anything in Reno. Reno is all about bar brawls, because Reno likes people to wear their blood on the outside. Reno kills geese in the park and cooks them up for Thanksgiving dinner. Reno promises to quit drinking but can't. Reno saves children from burning cars, then goes home and drinks. Reno wipes its bloody nose on its shirt sleeve, then forgets about it. Reno is embarrassed about some stupid thing it said last night, but not the blood on its shirt sleeve. Reno has the most beautiful face I've ever seen. Reno has thoughts of suicide sometimes. Reno has a photographic memory. Reno, I love you, and I hope you will vote for Obama, but I will still love you if you don't!
RZ79 volunteer. Help get Obama elected.
The McCain campaign is skeptical on this. "Democrats love to tout voter registration numbers, but that's putting the cart before the horse," said McCain spokesman Gorka.
Yes, the Republican leadership knows that it's not about how many people you register to vote, it's about how many people you can prevent from voting.
Well you are way behind the curve. Obama has more than a few volunteers working in NV. All the CA volunteers are traveling to canvas, registering voters and and calling into NV. CA volunteers are making thousands of phone calls per day to ID voters and GOTV.
nice piece.
This applies to all minorities:

Paragraph 6, the word "huey" will read like huey (as in Huey Long) to non-hispanics (the term Latinos is so 70s). The correct translation should be read "way," as in "where is the door?" he asked, "this WAY Mr. Bush."
Hispanics use "way" as an ender, like Anglos use "man" to demonstrate subtle camaraderie. Heres an example: "Hey man, give me a beer." Spanish version: "Oye way, dame una cerveza."
End of lesson. Enjoy the rest of the comments, way.
And don't forget to vote. Way.
I know that the UC Davis Young Democrats, in cooperation with the Obama campaign, are working very hard in Reno...and they bring some language skills with them. My son's two roommates both go up (it is a little over two hours away), and both speak Spanish (one is a native speaker, the other has spent a several summers in volunteer work in Central America). The campaign pays gas money, these attractive and engaged young people contribute their time and their enthusiasm.
but different groups in society split up differently in political debates. So a higher percentage of Blacks will be voting for Obama than for McCain, even though you can certainly find lots of Black Republicans who won't. All in all, it makes sense to say that the Black vote favors Obama if demonstrably more Blacks vote for him than the national average. Same thing for other groups.
In this sense, some sort of block voting does matter.
That's all. I think Obama has an excellent chance of winning a sizeable number of Latinos. This is a crucial swing vote and as long as he focuses on the issues which matter to most people there is absolutely no reason why he can't win them.
This is a very exciting and real possibility! There are always those who seek to divide us for dumb reasons. Why let them do so? Everyone can see how disasterous 8 years of George W. Bush can be!
With Bill Richardson's substantial pull in the West and his strong support of Senator Obama, I'm very optimistic!
AnaHadWolves is just being negative. There is no such thing as bloc voting. Great. But that point is valid for anything. Interesting you wait until they post an article on how many Latinos are enthused for Obama to point out this self-evident truth. There were at least three dozen articles run on how women wouldn't vote for Obama because they supported Hillary. I didn't hear any complaints about the notion of bloc voting then.
As for jmcdsf if you think the DEMOCRATIC Party isn't catering enough to the needs of universal healthcare, better schooling, gay rights and less military spending I'd be REALLY worried about what John McCain and the Republicans would do if they got back in there.
