  • Thank you.

I was sick of articles about Palin and wishing you'd move on, but this one really captures her and the Republican party here. Stein is a good man that did much for Wasilla, especially our youth. Others that worked on his campaign have said things similar to those you interviewed for this article. During the last mayor's race, certain members of the Republican party started a whisper campaign against one of the candidates (also Republican, but not the anointed one). Neighbors called me on a Sunday after a church picnic to tell me while there they had heard the juicy and totally untrue rumor that this candidate was having an extramarital affair. Apparently somebody forgot to tell the person who shared this calculated gossip with them that Christians don't spread lies, especially in church. The whopper I heard a month or so ago about one of the candidates in our current mayor's race (again a Republican, but not the anointed one) came from the same part of the party. Sadly, whisper campaigns are not the only dirty tricks they have stooped to. We can thank Sarah Palin for bringing ugly partisan politics to our non-partisan mayoral and council races. Had she been a true reformer, she would have started cleaning house on the local level. Instead, it's the same old players and Randy Ruedrich is still the state chairman.

  • Duh?

Sarah Palin more politically savvy than you thought? Say it isn't so? Sounds like typical leftist politics to me. What are you whining about? Coming from a slash & burn, character assassination type of politics that you all espouse, don't you think it's a little hypocritical that you are accusing Sarah Palin of doing what you all have done to her & anyone who might get in your way of being on the wrong side of your politics? Sara's baby isn't hers, SNL jokes about Todd Palin & incest, criticism of having a downs syndrome baby & poor prenatal care, parsing every word she says but giving Biden a pass every time he opens his mouth & makes a gaffe. Hmmm, it looks like she can swim with the sharks after all! BTW, isn't is ironic that Obama's Senate win came on the heels of a perfectly timed scandal of his opponent's affair? Hmmm, we know that it's only a coincidence, don't we?

Let's not forget, Obama is not running for VP is is running for president. He' not running against Palin. The people who know Obama in is own party still like him. Even the republican woman who is the leader of the republicans in the Alaska state Senate are speaking out against Palin.

There is a BIG difference between Obama-Biden and McCain-Palin

Both Obama and Biden are well educated an bright. McCain and Palin are NOT well educated or bright.

Obama-Bidne have a much better grasp of foreign policy and domestic issues. McCain and Plain are both very reactionary and not thouhgtful. Not a good trait for president or vice president.

  • Blah Blah Blah

Oh please. She is a governor now and this is politics. According to the late great Ann Richards, "politics is a contact sport". Nice people don't go into politics so lay off Sarah Palin. In my opinion, Washington needs more folks like this.

  • David Talbot is a Democrat Shill

Talbot's article really misses the mark. To anyone who has followed Sarah Palin's career - and Talbot obviously has not - they would find that Talbot has culled selective quotes out of context and cobbled together opposition talking points from the squadron of Democrat operatives who decended upon Wasilla and Juneau to look for anything remotely questionable in Palin's career. Now, this ignorant Democrat hack, David Talbot, has seized upon something so ludicrous just so he can get the description "mean" out there to attract some attention to a magazine with almost no circulation, and read mostly by liberals on the two coasts.

This guy is so far in the tank for Obama that he has never questioned Obama's past associations, or how "mean" Obama has been to his political opponents in Illinois - why, he's an official Obama hatchetman. Talbot has tried to paint Palin as a "mean" person through the most flimsy, second-hand hearsay and innuendo, yet he cannot find within himself the journalistic chops to go for real stories of corruption and influence peddling in Obama's Illinois past.

What about the Annenberg Center, Mr. Talbot? When have you ever looked into that? How about Obama's long and deep ties to felon Tony Rezko? Never heard of it, huh? No big deal? No, his opinion piece of how Sarah Palin was "mean" to someone is news to this hack. Get a real job, loser.

  • Can we knock Sarah off the front page for a while?

I hate her as much as the next progressive, and her deception needs scrutiny, but we do have a major economic crisis on hand. Can we put her aside on the online equivalent of page 2?

We're being asked to bail out companies led by CEOs who are getting million dollar bonuses while people lose their homes. It's obscene.

And some of us are experiencing Palin Fatigue Syndrome.

  • Lipstick on a Cheney

Opportunist is spot on in describing this "hockey mom" phenom! Just like Dick... but without one.

  • Lord love a duck

Why do you keep writing all this stuff about Sarah that is just dribs and drab--fact and rumor and inuendo and testimony and...

Your readers already know what we need to about Sarah Palin. Please, back to say, the WORLD? Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Darfur, South America... The economy. Health care.

The other candidates? You know, the ones who actually have command of the English language and have opinions of their own on real issues?

    FEH

  • logical follow-thru...

If we follow this pattern through to its logical conclusion... McCain had better watch his back!

  • Miscellaneous

Thanks to TheOtherBob for the good laugh and the great analogy.

For vwcats, many Alaskans would love to take back their state, but it's a bit of an uphill battle against a well-entrenched party machine that's been in bed with big oil money for years. Bill J. Allen was selected to be part of the electoral college in the 2000 election, and now has plead guilty to extortion, bribery and other charges. Contrary to Sarah's claims, the good ol' boys club has taken a few hits from the FBI (nice of her to take credit for their work), but is still very much in existence. Pray for us as we try to extricate ourselves from this mess.

To Mr. Talbot, thanks for the articles exposing Palin for what she is, now please use your talents to expose the candidates' stands on the issues.
