I spent a lot of time researching the religious right in the early 90s. Palin is one of many people the religious right who ran for school boards and other local pubic positions across the country. These people got their grass roots training in churches under the plan written by Ralph Reed for the Christian Coalition. They took over school boards across the country. In many communities when parents became aware of their agenda to insert their particular Christian beliefs into the public school system, parents got active and replaced these people. This is how the Christian right, now called social conservatives, have been able to take over the republican party and move their people up into higher offices and insert their Christian agenda into public policy at all levels of government. They made great advances under Bush. If Palin becomes VP, then president, she will help turn our Democracy into a nasty Christian theocracy. Her Christian "World View" will drive our international policy.
Her 16th century social beleifs will drive our domestic civl liberty policies. Se is no feminist she is a token for the religious right.
If I only read Salon's front page, I'd think Palin was running unopposed for dictator of the universe. She may be in her own mind, but this Palin obsession Salon has is getting old.
Salon's editorial staff needs to admit they have a problem and take steps to conquer it. It may not be possible to break your Palin addiction cold turkey, but you need to start cutting back. I'd suggest no more than one Palin article a week, and give yourself the wiggle room of allowing for one, major breaking Palin story every other week.
In the meanwhile, take a Palin photo you feel drawn to, lick the back, and stick it to your arm, or ass, depending on where you think it will offer the most relief to your Palin cravings.
Palin's personality and mean streak reminds me of those nasty people who protest outside Planned parenthood. The kind that handed roses laced with acid to patients.
among the hard libs.
but in the rest of America, if they ever read this about her, people will come away with an even more positive impression of her. I know I have.
to wit-- looking at her, you would think she plays to the cliche of a typical girly 'woman', whatever behavior that implies.
to hear that she is hard, opportunistic, cunning, conniving, on and on only helps to make her seem like a more appropriate candidate for office. We do not want powderpuffs in teh White House. This is why your Kerry failed. It is why the Greek Knight failed in 88. Cerebral but with a whipped cream complexion that blows over like a soap bubble in a hurricane does not, and should never, fly as a leadership credential.
let's move onto the next point. I thought lib theology was about women being effective leaders, doing whatever must be done, even if it imitates the worst behavior of the men.
I thought lib theology also included clauses that old white men, particularly old boy network men, were the most evil of the evil. So, y'all shluld be celebrating Palin's success over them, eh?
Which leads to the next conclusion, none of these exposees are done about Miz Hillary or any woman whom you DO agree with.
So it is all just more partisan bickering.
In a world where Democrats could write reams about how evil the right has been the past eight years, ripping on someone for being an effective and unsentimental leader is not that bright.
Me personally? I am a Ron Paul guy. Government is magnitudes and orders too big-- as is quite evident in the taxpayer handovers to trillionaires occurring this week against all our wills.
Or as someone said on the radio yesterday. A black kid sells $300 of crack and gets ten years. An old boy of a trillionaire bank takes home $100mil plus PER YEAR while the bank collapses and the proleple are forced to bail out the criminals, and they build statues of him on Wall Street.
Now you are sounding downright green with jealousy! Msss. Talbot. Sarah Palin did not just fall off the turnip truck, and neither did Mr. Talbot. So make up your minds, you lefty libs, do you want to portray Palin as a know-nothing piece of white trash or a crafty political hack? Ya can't have it every which way, kids!
If this article is the road you're going down, please spare us all the quotes from people in jail or trying to get our sympahty for political corruption, your words "Ruedrich admitted wrongdoing."
Ms. Palin is headed for Washington, and I'd ask you to consider getting on board, but your so far deep into your smearing hysteria that you wouldn't know a woman running for office if you saw one downing a moose. You are all such hypocrites it is positively sickening. I remember all of you from high school, vicious and vindictive as could be. Mr. Talbot, was that you in the high pony tail?
After reading your article, and others in Salon, I have to wonder how Palin ever carried a vote in Alaska, leave alone almost 80% of the votes when she ran for governor. What am I missing, oh, yes, I'm in Salon home of the fiction writers. Libs have drudged up the 20% that didn't vote for Palin, paying them to protest, spy, and lie.
Keep it up lib writers, you are going to write her right into the white house.
.
... I heard from a Palin neighbor that Sarah once pushed her mother-in-law down a flight of steps and kills puppies for fun...
PSYCH!
yet another article/commentary on dumb, mean-spirited, power-hungry Republicans... what a surprise!
can't you come up with some political analysis that might actually be based in reality instead of "he said/she said" hearsay?...
or do you actually believe that calling half the country a bunch of evil idiots is the best way to get them on your side?
