Mean girl Sarah Palin has a way of using "old boys" -- then dumping them when they become inconvenient.

  • As Bill Clinton so aptly said of Obama: "He's simply a typical Chicago thug."

The Clintons are ecstatic over Obama's pick of "Jawbone" Biden as his VP. A man who can speak eloquently ad-nauseam while saying absolutely nothing of substance. Biden, advertised as the brain-trust for the Obama ticket, is the same foreign policy "expert" who told the Israelis that they would have to passively accept a nuclear armed Iran, which of course would eventually guarantee the destruction of their Nation. The same individual who stated that the "Surge" was doomed to failure; and, who promoted the partitioning of Iraq into three separate nations, which would have precipitated a violent Iraqi civil war; and, assured the eventual incorporation of Shia Iraq into Iran. The same individual who voted to deny our American Forces the bullets and equipments they needed to survive in lethal combat. This from an individual who had earlier voted to commit our troops to the conflict. A despicable breach of trust with our men and women in uniform. Sounds more like a single digit IQ than an expert! The McCain camp will certainly exploit Biden's former prolific praise of McCain; his multiple assertions that Obama was not sufficiently experienced to assume the Presidency; and, who correctly noted that the White House was not the proper venue for Obama's: "On-The-Job-Training". Obviously Obama was smart enough to recognize that he needed a "Handler" close-by 24/7; and, no-doubt has scheduled Biden for remedial training in diaper changing. It's a good time to invest in "Pampers". It's become apparent that Obama has some insidious need to constantly poke the Clintons in the eyes. One has to wonder if an "angry" Michelle Obama is prompting such responses! And, as Bill Clinton so aptly said of Obama: "He's simply a typical Chicago thug." However, the Clinton's, astute in the way of politics, will simply re-enforce their base of supporters in preparation for a now certain 2012 bid. Greg Neubeck

  • Much of this article describes how MOST politicans behave...

I agree that campaign tactics that attempt to protray Protestants as Jewish to appeal to an antisemitic elctorate are dirty and worth revealing. But the fact that she distanced herself from a crony who was convicted in a sting operation and didn't go to him and ask him personally whether he was guilty of the charges? And he's now in prison and speaking through an intermediary to Salon? That all kind of makes me like her more rather than less.

I know these stories are in the pipeline now because a gazillion reporters converged on Alaska after Palin was named, and this is what's trickling out. But really, Salon, this newscycle is pretty much over. (It's the economy, stupid!!) There are diminishing and perhaps negative returns to continuing to bash Sarah. She is what she is. McCain got his bounce, his bounce is gone, let's move on.

This has been one of the most historically significant weeks in the history of our economy and yet Salon focuses yet another front page story on Palin?

  • You gotta read what Billy Boy said about her!

Associated Press NEW YORK — Former President Bill Clinton said Monday he understands why Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is popular in the American heartland: because people relate to her.

“I come from Arkansas, I get why she’s hot out there, why she’s doing well,” said Clinton, who supports the Democratic ticket headed by Barack Obama.

Speaking to reporters before his Clinton Global Initiative meeting, the former president described Palin’s appeal by adding, “People look at her, and they say, ‘All those kids. Something that happens in everybody’s family. I’m glad she loves her daughter and she’s not ashamed of her. Glad that girl’s going around with her boyfriend. Glad they’re going to get married.”‘

Clinton said voters would think, “I like that little Down syndrome kid. One of them lives down the street. They’re wonderful children. They’re wonderful people. And I like the idea that this guy does those long-distance races. Stayed in the race for 500 miles with a broken arm. My kind of guy.”

Palin, the governor of Alaska, became an overnight star when Republican presidential candidate John McCain tapped her for his running mate. Her family, including her Down syndrome baby, Trig, her pregnant 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, and her husband, Todd, four-time winner of the 2,000-mile Iron Dog snowmobile race, have garnered intense media interest.

“I get this,” Clinton said. “My view is … why say, ever, anything bad about a person? Why don’t we like them and celebrate them and be happy for her elevation to the ticket? And just say that she was a good choice for him and we disagree with them?”

Bwaaaaah ha ha ha ha ha ha! Take THAT Talbot!

  • "The Heathers"

Does anyone recall the movie starring Wynona Rider called: "The Heathers"? It was a cliqué of 4 girls, all of whom called themselves Heather, who went around victimizing, even resorting to the ultimate - murder - when things did not go their way. Palin likely was one of those types in school, though her platform was different --she was in sports. She was probably a bully as well; kicking one's friends to the curb and under the bus are not sterling qualities to boot.

Mean-spirited, ambition-at-any-cost and by any means necessary people have always been part of our lives; they lie, cheat & steal with no conscience. Palin embodies that most embarassing, egregiously hostile ambition to the point of murder, figuratively & literally, that a female can possess. Many of these women who look as she does relate to her, but they do not know what lies beneath that hockey-mom, sugar-coated veneer. What exactly IS the upside to ANY female being a PIT BULL in lipstick, pantyhose or anything?

The fact that she's a fundamentalist states that there's never any room for flexibility in her life and generally these types of people scorn or will kill anyone who doesn't believe what they believe; and would prefer if they ALL looked like Palin.

She'll lie by comission as well as omission.

  • "Well Functioning...?"

That must mean something different to you, because leaving a once-prospering town in debt, despite the extra cash from rape victim's who paid for their own kits, does not strike me as very good town management.

I've yet to hear any reason that Sarah Palin was a good choice for the job. I've heard why Conservatives like her - she believes women should bear their rapist's babies, she anxiously awaits The Rapture, & believes man once walked alongside dinosaurs. Yay? I've heard she excited the Right Wing base and that before learning anything about her, some women loved the idea of a mother of 5 as President. Those are political reasons -but the only thing I've heard to defend her qualifications is that she can see Russia from her house.
