...but honestly, keep trying. Nothing that you're writing, David, really surprises me...and I wonder if it surprises many Salon readers.
But, complicated. Oh well, life is complicated. I hope people read all this stuff, and ponder it in their hearts.
Palin, Palin, Palin, Palin.... All day and all night...
Can you guys PUHLEEEZE find something more useful to write about? You would think that no one else is actually running for office this year!?
How about some positive articles on Obama or Biden? Give us something to vote FOR instead of all this gossip magazine crap all this time.
I am seriously thinking about canceling my subscription to this rag.
She's monumentally unqualified. She's Bush in a skirt. She would be a nightmare should she be elected.
NOW MOVE ON.
Either Gov. Sarah Palin is a small-minded, self-absorbed, ambitious climber -- or Alaska politics is a narrow world where making enemies haunts you if you're elevated to the national stage. Maybe it's a bit of both.
Has anyone ever read a critical article where Sen. Barack Obama is accused of being petty, mean and nakedly power-hungry?
Anybody who votes for her will surely do so with eyes and ears firmly closed.
the REAL 3rd antichrist?
The typical reader of your article was convinced several weeks ago that Palin is toxic waste. We're not voting for her, no way, no how. The rest of your readers are trolls, either paid to sound like a moron or are actual morons.
Its the economy, stupid. My guess is that Palin is not that good at 'rithmatic, much less complex derivatives.
and why can't I stop humming "Don't Cry For Me Argentina"...?
That's just awful!
Thanks for the heads up!
And the lack of positive articles _is_ pretty depressing.
I guess pushing "Hate and Anger" is how Salon plans on overtaking HuffPo.
"We're the FreeRepublic.com for the arugula-and-wheatgrass crowd!"
David Talbot presents conclusive evidence that a politician might put personal ambition above interpersonal relationships.
What to do for an encore? I hear local news anchors might be no more than bubble-headed puppets with nice hair and bottomless clothing budgets. Care to tear the lid off that one?
90% of your readers already get she's completely unqualified and not good for the country. Stories like this are pointless unless they can be actually used to sway voters to Obama.
McCain is a free field day in this way and you keep beating on Palin. Why?
...Sometimes we post here just in case God might give us credit. Most of us realize that mostly only "the choir" reads our posts.
We probably will not change any ding-dong's mind. But, conceivably, far in the future, some historian may quote us, to help prove that all Americans were not simple-minded murderous creeps, back in the first decade of the twenty-first century CE. That is one reason to watch your spelling, grammar, and punctuation here in Salon.
We are on a sled to disaster, my fellow Americans. Please do not just jump on for the ride. At least, please go on record as a rational human.
Now where could this stereotype that liberals are obsessed with Sarah Palin be coming from?
Attention Salon: Sarah Palin is not running for president. And by the way, the election is weeks away at this point. Shouldn't we be discussing, oh, I don't know, THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES?
The interwebs will be cleansed of all criticism during Palin's second term in 2014.
she's referring to the palin-mccain ticket for christ's sake.
i've met sarah palins before ... i think we all have.
god help us if they make it to the white house.
so, why don't they fight against her. Why do they allow her to get her way and elect her.
It seems many are on to this woman and her way of operating. It seems to me that it would be high time to take this lady down and teach her a few manners.
Basically kick her ass.
Seems most people like her gets their eventually and it seems she is pretty much up for that.
I personally do not see how anyone can be taken by her. She is so obvious in her manner that she is an opportunist. And just look at her eyes and you see a true snake slithering.
But, then, we are talking about those who voted twice for Bush so, I guess I am giving people too much credit for seeing through a phoney like her.
To everybody who wants media to concentrate solely on the Presidential candidates: good advice re conventional wisdom a la Frank Rich: "America always votes the top of the ticket." We're having an unusual year folks. The actuarial reality means only boneheads vote for McCain without considering the bottom of the ticket. Dems and GOP inside Beltway are exquisitely aware of this. Think about how different things would be if he'd picked Ridge or Bloomberg . . . . .
While I agree with a lot of the other posters here that the article is more or less just ruminating over the horror we all recognize (and so kind of a waste of bandwidth), the picture, which I honestly rarely notice (at least until other readers start shrieking about how inappropriate some photo or juxtaposition is), really is interesting and horrible this time, and I honest to god (I guess I just lost half my readers by saying that), feel it is telling (and now I'm about to lose the rest of them); it is not an unflattering picture, not one of those tabloid hatchet jobs, and yet...it shows up a profile that's truly ghastly, that looks predatory and, well, mean, that resembles, seriously now, the alien in "Alien." Like that second mouth is about to come shooting out to bite somebody in the head.
Prove to me she's really from this planet. Prove it. Go on, I'm waiting...
but Knox Bronson is an amazing porn star pseudonym. Or hard rock band (as in, Knocks Bronson).
Just had say that.
Down with Palin.
Palin behaves like a poltician! *GASP*
More red meat (and thats all it is) for the McCain campaign to feed their base to rile them up for election day.
Thanks Salon!
The Wasilla soap opera just gets weirder as Palin complains critics are "picking apart a good point guard"
The media outlet's use of Bush euphemisms sparks a much-needed debate on journalistic standards.
And so are his Fox News pals, who lambasted Sen. Al Franken's "stolen election"
An inflexible right wing is allowing the Golden State to drown in debt. But it's not alone
Thanks for sharing, Governor. Now please take a cue from Norm Coleman, and go away
