The wolf is a predator that tears the throats out of sheep, lambs and other timid beasts. Where food resources are scarce wolves have been exterminated by those relying on agriculture for a living and huge dogs were bred to tackle the rapacious wolf. Traps have also been used and these can cause a slow and agonising death so a bullet from a sharpshooter is a far more humane way to keep these wild animals at bay.
The "fly in the ointment" of your argument is that there are creatures that are the enemy of humans, animals which will not socialise with humans as dogs and cats do; maybe you're mad about alligators, crazy about crocodiles and rave about rats but I don't know if that's so. If you're a vegetarian you are true to your principles and, if a vegan, even more so.
