Letters to the Editor

Letters posted here are associated with the following article:
Sarah Palin's powerful "First Dude" Todd Palin has exerted unusual influence on his wife's Alaska government. In Washington, their methods would do Bush and Cheney proud.

  • If I were e-mailing Bill Clinton or Woodrow Wilson or George W. Bush on business...

I might well send a copy to Ms. Rodham Clinton or Mrs. Wilson or Mrs. Bush. Being involved is good, not bad. There is no specific allegation here.

How about that air fare? I bet the USA and all the other states pay for first-spouses to attend important events. Does Laura pay her own way when she and Dubya visit Albania? Look it up, and tell me. I guess no.

  • Todd's a "hunk" with a real hot bod

And hooty & Inanna think he's some kinda beefcake god.

    Hooty wants Todd's booty

    And Inanna'll be happy

    If she gets second duty...

Ain't that a whole lot of ugly to imagine.

  • It's not about his "helping" Palin

Hootowl, what exactly has Palin done for "women like you?" And the issue is not whether First Dude "helps" her or not--it's the fact that if you release emails to any private citizen (which Todd is), then you can't deny those emails to other citizens who ask for them.

  • Todd get hooty hot

    So for her that's enough

    Todd's so rugged

    And he looks so tough.

  • hootowl, I hope your house is paid for

If not, you and all of your little suburban housewive friends hailing Caribou barbie will be living in your cars--until they are re-poed too.

This is what the puppetmasters of McCain/Palin have in store for you:

"Capital must protect itself in every way... Debts must be collected and loans and mortgages foreclosed as soon as possible. When through a process of law the common people have lost their homes, they will be more tractable and more easily governed by the strong arm of the law applied by the central power of leading financiers. People without homes will not quarrel with their leaders. This is well known among our principle men now engaged in forming an imperialism of capitalism to govern the world. By dividing the people we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance to us except as teachers of the common herd."

    --JP Morgan

  • And there was a deliberate attempt to circumvent disclosure laws

by using non government email accounts. It may be legal, but is that the kind of government we really want? A government that won't disclose to the public what they are doing? Shouldn't they be doing more to maintain that polite fiction that they are working for us?

  • Subpoenas

Would love a full and transparent disclosure of circumstances surrounding the dismissal of the state's public safety director. Did First Dude exercise undue influence?

An Alaska State Attorney General who owes his job to First Dude's wife, the governor, (appointed in December 2006) is unlikely to do anything unless provided a high-definition digital video, transcript and taped confession pointing to a crime being committed.

As long as he doesn't fib during a probe, First Dude can feign ignorance of ethics or civil rights. He can say he was motivated out of "concern" for his family's safety when he inquired on the trooper's employment status several times and shared information dug up from a private investigator hired to tail the tainted cop. Call it the "Palin Doctrine" defense. Doesn't matter that Alaska's First Family presumably has access to a government provided security attache.

  • @BusyBarbie

I'm quite aware of the GOP's track record on the middle class, thank you. It's why,up to this point, I'd been a Democrat.

It's why indeed this election was too important to lose and to have (AGAIN) the lunatic left koolaide drinkers snatch defeat from victory's jaws. But we can all see they're no friends of women OR of working families by now. The only thing that matters to these snot-nosed morons is Iraq and any charlatan willing to tell them what they want to hear about it is their koolaide icon. The hell with the cost to the rest of us.

They've been continuously shoving losers on our party from costing Gore the election with that "both the same" Nadir nonsense to Howard Dean's shipwrecked DNC to Obama!

Abandon all hope ye who enter here. It's over. And nothing's going to help you in 2012 now either. THIS was indeed the last chance and the same tired fools snatched defeat yet again.

  • Palin is qualified to be president

Democratic Les Gara, a state representative in Alaska, says that Palin is too detached from the job to do it well. "I do not believe that she's paid enough attention to the details of policy and how government works and the issues facing the state to run the nation," Gara says. "It's not her lack of experience -- I think a smart person who's really engaged and really curious can be in national office [without experience]. It's the lack of curiosity on the day-to-day workings of government that I've got the concern about."

That just about describes GWB perfectly and it got him elected 2 times. At least she can kill and skin an animal which is more that that "cowboy" Bush can do.

If McCain should win (and I predict he will) the government better invest a lot of money in medical research to make sure no disease kills McCain.

I think the first 10 years of this century should be called the train wreck decade.

  • @busy body Too bad it will be the Arabs and Chinese

who will repo the leading financiers. RIP Lehman Bros.

  • @Uncle Fester

That makes the rest of us look kind of unlucky

With all of that covert business and assorted secret moose pucky.

  • He's got that psychochristian gay man look about him.

For real. Calling Rev Ted. Your hooker is ready.

  • Hooty don't care about the future of her finances and funds

All she does all day, is imagine Todd's hot buttered buns...

  • Todd Palin Will NOT Get

The gay vote. Take it from me, we gay guys do NOT think he is hot. Not even remotely.

The trailer trash gay guys, perhaps.

Try RuralGay.com, maybe that crowd might cream their jeans over him, but not most gay guys.

  • Just what we need, another massive article about the Palins,

complete with full color picture of the hot husband. The media are obviously trying to sell the republicans with sex appeal. The interview with Sara looked like a cocktail lounge scene in The Graduate.

We should be hammering nonstop on the differences in policy.

Democrat policy: healthcare, fiscal restraint, strategic investment, middle class tax cuts, green energy (thank you Al), bipartisanship, and far reaching diplomacy.

Republican policies: tax cuts for corporations and the rich, out of control deficit spending, strategic lying, and needless wars to dump cash on the oil and war intustries.

And do we really want to reward the republicans for their corruption and incompetence?
