  • To Blase01:

But he didn't pick her and what is done is done.

I was of two minds about whether I thought she should even want to be his VP pick. I really don't think she is cut out for the vice presidential role any more than she is cut out for the Supreme Court. In the long run -- I know that it seems hard to understand now -- that he didn't pick her might be better for her and for him.

He seems determined to run a certain type of campaign that I am sure is frustrating to a good many people. I would like to see more fight from him, but he and HRC would have been a dissonant pair.

The important thing now is that we don't end up with Palin. Did you read today NYT article about her? Just the thought that woman with more power is scary.

If bad character makes bad presidents then we have much to fear from her should McCain be elected and die. McCain will be lucky if she doesn't "mistake" him for a moose.

  • behavior of blacks during primary lost me and most of America I'd bet

When every single last damned black person in America of voting age raced out to register to vote for Nobama in the primaries and turned on the former President and Senator who have done more for blacks than any politician since Lincoln and LBJ, and all the rabidity and profanity they were using - not to mention Rev.Wright, Pflagler, Michelle Obama, their vulgar rappers, ad nauseum.

That they now have the nerve to sit here and bitch about non-existant white racism as an excuse for the ultimate defeat of their piss-poor unqualified half-black Messiah is just beyond the pale.

they can shove it up their collective ____ and I know near everyone agrees with me (in the REAL world).

  • @AKA Smith

Maybe you need a medium sized town. About 50,000 or so. Enough stuff to be sane, far enough out to see the stars at night.

So many small towns have been devastated by lack of jobs. I've seen towns here that are just destroyed. The lack of jobs, the big boxes, the destruction of downtown... the loss of culture. It's across the board.

I ran screaming from Slidell...to wind up in a small town. At least in this one, I have some control of my destiny. I also do NOT have neighbors with chickens in the backyard.

Yes, this election has gone on far too long.

I am trying to get past some of my anger about the primary, but then there are so many who seem to have some sort of emotional investment in division.

At the beginning of the primary season there was so much optimism.

Yes, and I hate that some people just must destroy. They aren't necessarily good at it, but they seem to enjoy causing pain or fighting for the hell of it.

No fabric store. Good Lord. That is just not civilized. I know what you mean about the "cold" people. They suck the life out of you. The library people are usually ok. The book club or scrapbooking are probably really good ideas.

I wish you were here. If you get to New Orleans, go to Our Lady of Guadalupe's, the International Shrine of St. Jude on N. Rampart. It's one of the few churches where you see poor and rich, all races, all praying for a miracle. I've seen hookers (in the clothes) next to ladies in fur coats.

We will get through this. And I will still be your friend in Wisconsin. Just remember that.

  • I'm out

I'm too old to be up this late!

  • Thank you, domini.

Thank you for your good words and good thoughts. I send the same to you for you have rather cheered me up on this windy, gloomy day when remnants of Ike have shaken the windows a bit. No tornados yet.

All the best to you and I hope that everyone reading here will give a thought to the people of Lake Charles, Houston, Galveston and those other coastal towns impacted by Ike.

Obama was right to cancel his appearance on SNL tonight to give respectful thought to people who truly are not fortunate tonight.

Here's a hand to you domini. If more people were like you and could reach out as you do, they would truly benefit Obama.

  • Obama wants sex Ed taught to our kindergartners

legislative record. Let us consider the bill in question, SB0099 of the Illinois General Assembly. I quote:

Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades K_ -6 through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV AIDS. Nothing in this Section prohibits instruction in sanitation, hygiene or traditional courses in biology.

Not only did Obama vote for and therefore support a bill that mandates sex education for all public school children; this bill was amended in order to ensure sex education would be provided to students from grades kindergarten through 6. How else does one explain the strike through the number six and the underscore below the letter “K” in the text I quote above?

I do not think kindergartners need to be taught this. This is another problem with small town people clinging to their Guns and Faith.

  • hey tillerylady dork

    you probably still believe babies

    are delivered by the stork.

  • Speaking of prejudice...

...if after all this time, these people can still cling to the delusion that Obama is a Muslim, then they really are racists. Or stupid. Or both.

If so, they just have to be outvoted, that's all.

Democracy only works when people are well-informed. There are so many forces today trying to achieve the opposite: an ill-informed population.

I'm astonished at the "he's not like me" thread. Do these people have any comfort zone outside their own shoe-size? I for one would like to have a President that I know for sure is smarter than me (which really isn't all that high a bar), instead of one I know for sure is more vicious and more crafty than me.

  • @marcinko

So true. Democracy works most optimally, when the public is well and truely and accurately informed, but when you have bone heads like Blaze 01 and hooty, you're dealing people who are intellectually deformed.
