Does anyone know where the Assemblies of God stands on disability issues, doctrinally or in practical terms? I ask because I'm aware that some other far-right denominations (and individual churches) teach that, essentially, if you've got a disability it's either because you haven't prayed enough for it too go away, or you have some deep unrepented sin.
I ask because I wonder how Sarah's faith informs her understanding of her son's disability. (Is it possible that when she says she'll be an "advocate in the White House" (Naval Observatory, natch) for all us crips, she just means she'll be praying for us?
I shake my head wearily, and ponder, where do these miserable phawks come from, and why do they plague us: "Hiroshima was hardly taken out, about 1 in 4 people died, and that includes a four month post bombing period where people died from lack of health care access. Sure, most buildings were damage, estimates up to 90%, but the actual death percentage is much lower than is in the popular mind."
Lying neocon propagandists will assure you that torture isn't torture, a ton is less than a pound, and that Hiroshima wasn't taken out by an atomic bomb.
They'll also argue that black is white and then claim you can't prove otherwise.
Bizarre. Truly bizarre.
Xanthro--No, in fact, both US and Russian space agencies are currently suffering from an acute shortage of plutonium. Russia has almost all the remaining stockpile, measured in a few kilograms, and that stock pile will be depleted in a few years.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, neocon:
Russia has an estimated stockpile of 120-170 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium
http://www.armscontrol.org/act/2007_12/USRussia
120 tons is more than a few kilograms. Were you aware of that, neocon?
Weapon grade is Pu-239 (purified to less that 7% Pu-240) not Pu-238.
There are thousands of tons of Pu-239 and Pu-240 made every year. It's obvious I was talking about Plutonium used in space travel, which is Pu-238. That's WHY I MENTIONED SPACE.

We have run out and purchased some from Russia last year. Again it's used in atomic batteries.
You measure things differently in the Alternate Bush Universe?
The only alternative Earth is the one you reside in. What color is the sky in your World?
I can keep rubbing your own ignorance in your face until your nose has been ground down to your cheekbones, neocon.
It's clear to all that I'm far more conversant in the topic than you are.
Does anyone know where the Assemblies of God stands on disability issues, doctrinally or in practical terms?
They stand on their claim that severe mental illness is a civil right protected under the First Amendment.
Well as you seem to respond better to name calling, I will speak your language. I did not vote for Bush. I voted for Kerry. I voted for Bush in 2000, Clinton in 92 and 96, Bush in 88, and Reagan in 84. In other words, I vote for whomever I think is on the right track at the time, with the information that I have.
I am a proud Independent, who care more about his country than partisan BS.
You, on the other hand, sound like a miserable, whiny, taker who only wants to rant and complain about those that oppose your view instead of using intelligent discourse to reach an understanding.
So, please go ahead and prove my point with one of your gutless verbal attacks, and demonstrate to me that you are incapable of anything but partisan "hackery". I will be waiting....
Xanthro--Russia has almost all the remaining stockpile, measured in a few kilograms
Me: "Russia has an estimated stockpile of 120-170 metric tons
Were you aware that 170 tons is more than a 'few kilograms', neocon?
Were you really?
-- Godot..
Your logic is bizarre.
I stated that Russia has a few kilos of Pu-238.
You then claim Russian has 120-170 kilotons of Weapons Grade, Plutonium Pu-239.
I then corrected you and stated that if we include all isotopes of Plutonium that it's thousands of kilos per year. There's far more Plutonium than the 350 so kilotons enriched for nuclear warheads.
Here's the question, how much Pu-238 is there in the World, and who has it?
Or did you think that all Plutonium isotopes were used in space travel? Did you really?
Becky, the AG.org website has links to their position papers, including one on disabilities. It's immensely condescending and heavily reliant on faith healing, but more humane than the position you're concerned about. In essence: sometimes God gives you a disability so that he can show his power through healing it, and sometimes he wants to teach you a lesson by letting you live with it - either way, the church and its people are instructed to be nice and compassionate. (In contrast, look at their position paper on homosexuality - absolutely horrible.)
I stated that Russia has a few kilos of Pu-238.
You then claim Russian has 120-170 kilotons of Weapons Grade, Plutonium Pu-239.
Now you're just lying to cover your ass, because you didn't say that, and I didn't say that.
This is what you just quoted:
Xanthro--Russia has almost all the remaining stockpile, measured in a few kilograms
Me: "Russia has an estimated stockpile of 120-170 metric tons
The two are not the same. And everybody can see that except you.
You can make any claim you like, neocon, but the fact is that you're just another neocon sent over to save Xanthro's lying ass.
We can tell because you haven't addressed the issue here. You just came out swinging. So fuck off.
So, please go ahead and prove my point with one of your gutless verbal attacks
That's all you did, neocon.
You just discredited yourself with your own argument. Fuck off, Bushite.
You neocons need to be more careful about contradicting yourselves:
I did not vote for Bush ... I voted for Bush
These are your words, aren't they, neocon?
You do know what a contradiction is, don't you?
Now then, lie your ass off. It's what you're good at.
