I'm not much for inter-mural pissing contests. Isn't there a way to flag such off-topic posts into the garbage, so that no one has to read past ignorant, rude, crude adolescent crap to get to on-topic postings, which might be serious - possibly even valuable. This bitchy banter is pointless & annoying. I'm sure it turns people off from reading entire threads.
I'm the last person to suggest censorship, but there can be standards (of focus: does this posting even remotely relate to the topic; and standards of civility --- even if sometimes, in serious discussions, there are serious disagreements where the only appropriate response is "fuck you." Then say it, end the dialogue and move on.) This back&forth blather clogs the works. Certainly, no one is waiting for this Godot.
