    The Earth is my Goddess

"American culture, many people have turned their adoration from the Creator to the creation. They have gone to the extreme and are now worshiping the earth. We believe worship of the land, the sea, the oceans, and other attributes of the earth is an abomination to God the Creator." -

Well I can touch the Earth; I can taste her fruits, her sweet breath of ocean air which gives us all life. The sea is my refuge.

So, in their eyes, destroying and raping the planet for their selfish reasons is God's will? He wants us to destroy the beautiful planet, the only one we know of so far? (We’re still looking) Somehow, in my early studies of Methodism, I don’t recall those in his 10 commandments.

The idea of rapture may be fine for zealots, but for people with free minds and a broader scope of the entire world, that idealism just doesn’t cut the cake. Her religious ideals, if kept to herself, really don’t bother me. As long as she practices in her own home, on her own time, and on her own dime.

Now spouting religious rhetoric on my DIME (I am a tax paying American) is not acceptable in any form. While this may be a race for “gods” will. What about the other 50% of the population that doesn’t subscribe to the religious ideologies of Christianity?

Are we less American because we do not kowtow to an archaic set of books and teachings? Should my vote or worlds be less counted because I am pagan?

I would think my time in the Military in an actual WARZONE would trump my personal beliefs.

But that does not seem to be the case.

In my own philosophy, war is an abomination, weather it is against another human being, or with the planet herself. For anyone to freely seek the demise of another population, sex or religious group for their “god’s” gain is frightening and should send up red flags higher and faster than Bush buying over 600,000 acres in Paraguay.

This nation was founded on a simple notion.

    Freedom.

    Freedom or religion.

The Freedom to pursue happiness, growth and knowledge.

I will defend the constitution until my dying breath is crushed from my breast. As I swore on the day I joined the United States Navy. And If I remember, God had nothing to do with my oath to protect my country.

Let the Earth be, leave God in your heart, and not on my door step.

    -A Mind in Seattle
