John McCain is connecting with voters

But make no mistake: Barack Obama retains some important built-in advantages.

The letters thread is now closed.

HOW IS THIS F&$KING POSSIBLE!

Tell me....HOW???

Obama:

1) STOP COMPLIMENTING YOUR OPPONENTS FOR FUCK SAKE! Stop it!! Stop it!

2) Keep saying "asking Palin where she stands on issues is not sexist." Keep saying "issues are gender-neutral - treating her different than a male opponent is sexist."

3) ATTACK!!! Obama keeps saying stuff like "when the dust settles, I trust the American people to see the difference...blah, blah."

That's how we lost the last election. Don't trust the American people. I'm getting SO pissed off at them! ATTACK! FIGHT! Use the word LIAR!

I just got back from seeing the movie The Traitor....

and in the end the guy who plays the FBI agent says to Don Cheadle's character that this "fight is far from over"..

In the same fashion I think a long war of ideas has just begun and with it has a long reign by Republicans...

9/11 was a perfect storm created for the Christian Fundamentalists and with 20% of the American population their numbers will grow even more and thus will the electoral pickings for the Republicans.More states will turn Red.

Nothing the Dems do will help.

The Dems should fight the elections like they have nothing to lose. Then maybe, just maybe....

Barack Dukakis never stood a chance

Some of us tried to tell you Barack Dukakis fans that your candidate was a loser. We were right then and we're right now. Barack Dukakis is going to lose the election to John McCain and Sarah Palin.

The GOP didn't even have to mount much of a campaign to put away this weak, unqualified empty suit.

We told you so. Barack Dukakis is finished. He was finished before you idiots nominated him.

So?

O.K. Lolcait- I'll bite. Which democratic nominee could have won in your eyes, and why would they have won? I'd like to see real answers here otherwise you're just a punk trolling around.

John McCain will regret Palin Power

Senator McCain may be connecting, but Governor Palin is the weak link that will derail the straight talk express.

When the novelty that defines her selection wears off and people began wondering what her views are. I kinda doubt they will vote the ticket that promises an America were abortion even in cases of rape, incest and a threat to the life of the Mother becomes a crime. Where creation science is taught in public schools and equal pay for equal work is an option of the employer.

Republicans won the last election because democrats let lies and distortions go unchallenged which is not happening this time.

The great white moose hunter gives a snappy stump speech, but sooner or later she will face questions from actual journalist's and reporters not the humps who's pay checks say FOX network.

Eight years of George Bush not with standing, I simply reject the notion that a majority of those who vote will pull the lever for a McCain-Palin ticket.

lolcait, lolcait, lolcait...

lolcait,

your steadfast adherence to your own particular brand of idiocy is heartening, in a perverse sort of way.

Good candidate / Bad candidate

From the beginning, both Obama and McCain pledged that they were going to take the high road in their campaigning.

Obama has kept that pledge. But McCain gets his GOP cronies to stand up and lie, defame, ridicule, and deride -- so he can stand up and speak humbly of all of the life lessons he has learned and stay true to the high road. It's brilliant. He can speak humbly and with dignity, and while everyone is watching and admiring him, his buddies are cold-cocking, slander-flinging, and rabbit-punching his opponents. He doesn't have to get his hands dirty and he gets to run a dirty campaign.

Obama, please, if a man or his surrogates behave dishonorably, it doesn't mean you have to behave dishonorably yourself, but you can at least stop telling everyone how much you respect him. What he deserves is your pity for how delusional and screwed-up he is, thanks to his untreated PTSD and his having grown up in a family with a father who, when he was present was usually drunk. Everyone calls him a hero, but he knows that he's really nothing more than a survivor. His whole campaign is to redeem his lousy self-image and the battle between his sick ambition and his desire to serve. He needs to work all of that out in therapy, not as the most powerful man in the world.

McCain may deserve a lot of things, but what he does not deserve is to be my president! His team is fighting dirty, and dirty wins because people vote with their hearts.

Obama, even if you insist on holding onto your integrity, you can not win if you keep your hands down. You must fight back -- you don't have to fight dirty. Speak the truth. Call things what they are. (If you don't want to call people liars, you can at least call lies lies.) You are smarter than he is. You are wiser than he is. The whole world wants you to be our president. Win. Win. Please, win.

No Complacency

I am not taking anything for granted. Today I worked my first session in a political campaign ever. I will donate more time in the future.

The GOP is smart, tough and totally Ruthless. Maybe they will win. But I will donate my time and money until this election is finished. I am fighting for my family, and they will have to take it from me.

@lolcait

Please pee in this vial and securely affix the plastic "evidence" tape.

Simple narrative of capitulation

What do you do when your political opponent attacks your service record, questions you POW record, and attacks your family - all with the blessing of your party?

Do you give in, you capitulate, you appease and collaborate, changing you position on major issues like a women's right to the war in Iraq? Do you embrace the very man who did this to you, give him your ringing endorsement, and support in lockstep his policies? John McCain did.

He wanted to make Joe Lieberman his running mate but caved in again to pressure from Bush Republicans and named Sarah Palin.

Putting together the story is what the Democrats need to do. Put it together and present the evidence.
