So what?

How are they any weirder than AIPAC?

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 07:18 PM

Then please return my tax dollars

In California we pay a pretty hefty amount of taxes. Our state gets back about .70 on the dollar. Alaska (and many other red states) take a whole lot more than they pay. I believe Alaska takes about $2 for every dollar they pay. Go ahead, secede. With Alaskas governor brokering deals with big oil, and ignoring science in managing Alaskas natural resources, good luck.

What do you call an Alaskan freedom fighter?

A moosehajidin?

Scrounging for Crumbs

You're gonna have to find something stronger than this if you want to fire something at Mrs. Palin that will knock her off balance. I completely agree with the writer about AIPAC. We almost had Joe Lieberman as the VP candidate for goodness sake!

@MarkShepherdstown

We did have him as a VP candidate.

At least she doesn't talk like a cartoon character.

To all those who are going to vote McCain/Palin --- Palin wants to steal our oil!!

I am absolutely appalled that Sarah Pallin supports, by addressing the AIP and giving them her support, and by her husband's membership in the AIP that this so called family want to steal the oil that belongs to all Americans. America bought Alaska from the Russians. That oil belongs to all Americans, not to the small population of Alaska. She is a scary lady. If she'd steal our oil by supporting the AIP and addressing their convention by voicing her support for them, this lady is not someone who we can trust to not steal from us when she's in the White House.

We just had two leaders bought and paid for by the oil industry. Do we want two more? Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me. Go ahead and vote for her you fools. You're going to get what you deserve and you can bet your gasoline dollars that you're going to get it good.

And why are the Republicans claiming the Democrats are holding drilling up. They had six years of total rule in Washington from 2000-2006 and didn't do anything about drilling offshore or in Alaska. Don't you even wonder why?

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 07:29 PM

Stronger?

I don't know, the Rev. Wright's comments when Obama wasn't present of "God Damn America" seemed to be very, very important.

Here's someone that wants out of America and Palin sucks up to her and her husband was a member of the movement and all of a sudden it's not important, maybe even trivial?

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 07:31 PM

Hypocrites

Just like every small town Republican I ever met, hates those taxes but loves when they send the Federal Dollars...

lead photo is creepy as hell

Am I the only person in the world who doesn't think Palin is "hot"? Even before I knew who she was, I saw her picture in the paper and said, Wow, who is that blank-eyed zombie woman? Words that spring to mind when I look at her include "evil," "possessed," "Barbie," and "Stepford," but not "hot."

@BuckBatard

"Our" oil?

Who the hell are you? Exxon?

Did Russia buy Alaska from the Native Americans? If they didn't by what right could they sell it?

If America really wants Alaska, let the invade it and take it by force. Who is going to stop us? Canada?

Next let us hear about unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers...

...and his kindred spirit and longtime associate, Barack Obama.

That's a direct association, not a second-hand slur like the one you're trying to sell. (Or do you mean that Sarah Palin's opinions are issued to her by her husband? How sexist!)

If Salon or the mainstream media were into real investigative journalism, the Ayers-Obama connection would be a juicy story indeed. Instead, all you can manage is weak cheap shots like this one.

Palin has libwits panicking, and for good reason. You know you're going to lose now.

Tuesday, September 9, 2008 08:09 PM

Ayers? Seriously?

"That's a direct association, not a second-hand slur like the one you're trying to sell."

Speaking at the convention of an American-hating group of secessionists, twice, is a "second-hand slur", while a "direct association" is sitting on a non-profit board with an ex-bomb thrower.

Seriously?

What looking glass did you drop through?

Ayers?

Before the Rep Operatives begin flogging THAT again, isn't he the guy who also associates with the Clintons & several Republicans? I'm sorry - that's just kind of weak.

And I assume that if Michelle Obama had been a member of a Secessionist-like group, none of these troll types would be mentioning it, what with her being ONLY his wife & all...

What rubbish!

Thanks timbuktom

You got it just right.

Isn't it amusing

Isn't amusing that anytime a new inflammatory charge against Palin arises, the Republican apologists are quick to try to change the subject to Obama.

Case in point: Ayers; Wright.

As mentioned, by others, the Ayers association is tenuous, at best (they were on a board of a non-profit together).

As for Wright, I want to remind all what he actually said: "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

Sorry, I don't have a problem with this, in the least--any country that does kill innocent people or tries to act supreme should be condemned in no uncertain terms.

It kind of reminds me of some other words I once heard, "And don't let anybody make you think that God chose America as his divine, messianic force to be a sort of policeman of the whole world. God has a way of standing before the nations with judgment, and it seems that I can hear God saying to America, 'You're too arrogant! And if you don't change your ways, I will rise up and break the backbone of your power, and I'll place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name. Be still and know that I'm God.'"
