O.k., as I said, I didn't stay up to listen to her speech (in fairness I didn't do that for Obama either), but like Obama I am now getting the best clips from the evening.
My assesment is, "that all you got?"
That people are gushing about this speech does reveal the media bias towards making this a horse race. It was a decent speech, it hit it's marks, her stage craft was rather shaky and she was very clearly going off a tele prompter and reading a speech she wasn't terribly familiar with.
Her pants didn't fall down, her blouse didn't pop open, she didn't rip one half way through and blame the dog. So in that sense it was a success.
If that's her best presentation after three days of intensive work, I'm not impressed. She needed an out of the park home run, but her speech was decidedly in the park.
Her delivery style I can best compare to Lieberman on Helium, without the inovative ideas for national healthcare.
Stll no meat and potatoes on the most important issue facing the American People today, the economy, and they can call themselves a change ticket all they want, they are still the party of the incombant.
So yeah, she got the crowd excited, but that's sort of like saying KISS rocked the silverdome. No one comes to the concert unless they are ready to rock, and those that don't go simply aren't interested in the show.
Like KISS, behind the makeup and pyrotechnics, and canned applause, it's just an old man replaying the hits of the 80's, even though they wen't out style 8 years ago.
