Does Sarah Palin truly believe that she is qualified to perhaps serve as President of the United States? Should she not have evaluated her own resume and withdrawn herself from contention?
It doesn't matter whether she believes herself to be "qualified" in the usual sense of the term or not, when she knows that she is as ready and willing to unleash the fury of God upon the nations and people of Earth as anyone can be.
Some vetting! Walt Monegan, Commissioner of Public Safety was ousted because the Palins demanded the illegal firing of a trooper. He said he was never contacted by the vetters. A bipartisan legislative committee appointed a top-flight retired prosecutor to see if illegal influence was exerted. Palin's appointed attorney general was tasked to do a parallel investigation to apparently frustrate the legislators' initiative. A former D.A. and House leader suggested she could actually be impeached, depending on the results of the investigation.
Palin has been unable to get along with the Republicans who lead both houses of the state legislature. Neither was the Senate President contacted by McCain's Keystone Kops.
Unlike McCain, who has assembled a group of screwball advisors around him such as "Senator Deregulation" Phil Gramm, Nixon's Jew hunter Fred Malek, criminal fugitive Ahmed Chalabi's escort, Randy Scheunemann, who never met a Near East invasion he didn't like, Palin has drawn top state appointees from insular friends, neighbors and church members. These include a distinctly unaccomplished Attorney General, a control freak Commissioner of Administration and Sarah's high school buddy as Commissioner of Corrections. (A recent no-confidence vote in that Commissioner by the state's corrections officers passed by close to 90%.)
The pregnancy of her 17-year-old daughter has been an open secret amongst her Valley peers for months. Sarah's own pregnancy at her age, 44, was mystifying, given that Down Syndrome occurs in 2 1/2% of all pregnancies in mothers that old. Contrast that with the odds of Bristol having a similar child: About 1 in 2,000, or .05%. Palin had her water break while giving a speech in Texas, then flew for nine hours and drove another 50 miles so she could give birth in a local clinic that would have been unable to care for a critically ill neonate. This should rightly reflect on her chronic lack of judgment though the radical right sees it as an attribute.
It's hard to keep up with relevations of Palin's missteps. The latest confirmed story is that she, as mayor, tried to purge the city library of books she deemed to be undesirable.
For those who were afraid that McCain wouldn't kowtow to religious fanatics, who weren't convinced by his sucking up to Pat Robertson, Bob Jones, John Hagee, Rick Warren and Rod Parsley, Palin fit the bill. A scientific illiterate, Sarah advocates teaching creationism in public schools and doesn't believe in anthropogenic global warming. She holds noontime prayer meetings in her state offices.
The prospects of a Palin presidency should terrify anyone who has some understanding of the actuarial liklihood of a 72-year-old ex-prisoner who has suffered multiple melanomas failing to survive his entire term.
One question I haven't heard asked about Governor Palin is: why did she accept McCain's offer? Surely, she is smart enough to know that she is being used? A beauty queen mom can "soften" some of the most archaic political ideas in existence. When any of the old white guys of the Republican party express these ideas, they just come off as mean and superior. (We have a tendency to assign positive qualities to beautiful people.) Coming from Ms. Palin, the vilest thoughts appear to be cute and harmless.

Sarah Palin is the Vanna White of the Republican party.
Don't totally disagree but I'd argue that what has separated the Republicans from Democrats in the last twenty-five years of national elections is the former's ability to tear down their opposition as much as create a myth replete with symbols concerning their own. In retrospect, only Carville seemed to have the guttersnipe impulses of a Rove or Atwater. Sure, the McCain myth is in full-force this week in MN, but rest assured they'll be tearing Obama a new one as soon as the week ends. (And let's not forget, Rev. Wright hasn't entered the national discussion for a couple of months now; gotta believe Rick Davis and the 527s are holding it for late inning trump card.)
Also, the silly Neville Chamberlain comparisons aside, the Dems often come off as appeasers in these national campaigns. Abortion is always the most obvious example of this, but just listen how they speak of McCain. Whether it's Obama or Biden, or Hillary or Bill, they all caveat their criticisms of him by paying homage to his service and heroism as a POW for which we should all be indebtted. Interesting in that the ONE speaker I heard at the Dem Convention who resisted doing this was Kerry -- he just launched right into his attack. And though I can't claim to know the guy's mind, I can take a guess at his thought process, which was basically to hell if I'm paying his military record any lip service after the disrespect they showed mine.
Poor Mikey Madden!
He and other FOO's (as in Friends of Obama) can smell the evil stench of defeat and the poor things are lashing out at Sarah Palin and even at her daughter, Bristol.
It's not unexpected but it's still no less pitiful.

The liberal media, which means most of the media, seems to lend a deaf ear and a blind eye to shenanigans among the ranks of Democrats, in case you haven’t noticed. In fact, you probably won’t notice precisely because of that defective hearing and vision.
For example, how many stories have we seen in the mainstream media about Obama’s associations with convicted Syrian crook, Tony Rezko, who was so tight with Obama in Chicago that you needed a crowbar to separate them?
How many stories have you read in that same media about Obama’s good buddies and homegrown terrorists, William Ayers and his bride, Bernardine Dohrn? Ayers was prosecuted for terroristic acts and beat the rap on a technicality and still preaches the overthrow of America from his lofty perch at the University of Illinois? Despite her background and conviction in federal court for refusing to testify in the Weatherman Brinks robbery, Dohrn is a law professor at Northwestern.
