"When asked if she believes she'd be ready to step in as president if something were to happen to McCain, Palin's response was, "Yup, yup."
What is the source of that information?
Yo, Mike Madden, ease up on the, unnecessary, random commas!

I gotta list these things.
1. After only 20 months as governor has hired a lawyer to protect in her "Troopergate." And we all know what applying "gate" means.
2. As mayor of a town of less than 9 thousand, inherited zero debt, ran up a 22 million dollar debt.
3. She incorrectly pronounces "nuclear" as "nucular."
4. She attended secessionist conventions.
5. This is a big one for me because it is from a live TV interview from ONLY ONE MONTH AGO! She said "I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?"
6. The Alaska state senator running an investigation of Gov. Palin says the McCain campaign is using stall tactics to prevent him from releasing his final report by Oct. 31, four days before the November election. Clear abuse of power.
7. Obama says I can't talk about her underage pregnant daugher, but I can say (8.) that she "eloped" and had a baby less than 8 full months later.
I have seen a photo (it is real) of Mrs. Palin wearing a shirt that says "I may be broke but, I'm not flat busted." I married a sexy librarian with big hooters, I get the appeal, but (9.) that's white trash.
10. In her first television interview after being selected said she "opposed the 'Bridge to Nowhere.'" As The New Republic's Bradford Plumer shows, citing reports from the Anchorage Daily News and PALIN'S OWN OFFICIAL STATMENT, Palin supported the bridge AT EVERY STEP!
A). Liar.
B) She supported it in campaign ads, it's not conjure. This direct refutes "pork buster."
Ten is enough.
Nope.
11. Hired a lobbyist firm to get her small town far more than their fair share of federal taxes. Ronnie would not approve.
True or not. Fair or not. Classless or not. That's all people are talking about.
She is a bad pick.
Admit it!
You're a cool cat.
But, why are we still tossing around the Republican street cred? You're one of us now. Look inside yourself, Luke. You know it to be true.
Who discovered she has a cold wet nose, her innoculations are up to date, and her cloven hooves are in excellent condition.
Oh yea, Palin knows how to deal with them tricky furriners. You can't let those pushy Canadians get away with a thing. We know their tanks are poised at our border, ready to make the move south at the least word from Ottowa! The minute there's a hint of danger, Alaska will secede from the Union!
So much for the "disciplined campaign" myth for McCain. He bought the attractive packaging and now he's finding a disturbing ticking inside. Or maybe his geiger counter is crackling more insistently than he'd like. It's hard to know where to start, with this one. The vetting was sloppy and incomplete. A "questionaire!" Gosh, I'll bet she was sweating filling that out. Anybody care to guess how many interviews and meetings Joe Biden had before getting the nod from Obama?
Frankly, Obama's ex-Pastor doesn't scare me nearly as much as Palin's current one.
The real trouble with Sarah Palin is the $27 million in Federal earmarked funds she secured for her hometown, Wasilla, in the most recent Federal budget (source: story in Houston Chronicle, http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/politics/5978373.html, "Palin secured $27 million in town earmarks", September 1, 2008). A story in the Houston Chronicle states that "Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor, according to an analysis by an independent government watchdog."
There are a couple of difficulties here:
1. John McCain is supposed to be *against* earmarks. In the same story referred to above, McCain is quoted as saying that "earmarks are wasteful and are often inserted into bills with little oversight, sometimes by a single powerful member of Congress."
2. The town of Wasilla has 6,700 residents, according to the news story referenced above. Small towns are notoriously chummy, and usually all of the major players (and the minor players, too) know each other and have done so for a long time. I haven't seen any analysis of possible conflicts of interest (or perhaps worse) that might arise with the way the money was parceled out. I'll bet that that analysis is getting done right about now, and will come out about the time that the pregnant daughter becomes old news.
At first I thought this was a brilliant choice, but with the revelations of the past four days, and just the last four days, I think this is going to turn into a disaster. The lack of vetting shows a singular lack of judgment. At this point, I can't support a McCain candidacy.
Palin has not only fired up teh Christian right foot soldiers, btu she has also fire d up the Obama volunteers.
I hope they don't dump her. She perfect. Obamw ill roll over the republicans with her on the ticket.
the events at the Minneapolis convention, including the pre-emptive raids without probable cause on journalists whose equipment was seized and who were thus rendered unable to report, and the actions taken against innocent protestors and journalists at the convention (including Amy Goodman and her crew, numerous AP reporters and photograhers, and at least one reporter from the New York Post who cried out that fact as he was being arrested and stated that the Post was a Republican newspaper...) prejudice me against McCain as well, but the thing which tipped the balance was the earmarks.
I have not seen anybody mention this aspect of Palin that the McCain camp does not seem to have considered when making her pick. At her introduction by McCain, I think she came off looking energetic, smart and good looking. You would think that is not bad but it made McCain look extremely old and dowdy. He looked like how a grandfather, who is tired with life looks when standing next his teenage daughter! I feel this will play out more and more in the coming days forcing everybody to view McCain as old, bitter and boring old man everytime they appear together.
