  • @terkoy

Terkoy, consider yourself lucky that you live in a country where progressive, liberal ideas have established some semblance of decency within a society that used to send children to the coal mines and deny education to blacks and working classes. Like it or not, enough of us vote for the Nancy Pelosi's and Ted Kennedy's in congress to make sure that we do not regress.

Do you think people in San Fransisco or Massachussetts are communist crazies? In reality, we are the economic and intellectual driving force of this country. Whether it is Computers, Pharmaceuticals, other high tech industries, the liberal parts of the country lead the way. This is not a coincidence, because unlike you and your ilk, we value education.

You seem to have no clue about what real progress is. I do not for a moment believe that any real data will sway you, because you are under the influence of propaganda. Do you know that over the past 50 years, economic growth under Democratic administrations significantly exceeded that of Republican administrations? See:

    http://www.eriposte.com/economy/other/demovsrep.htm

for the actual data. It is also no coincidence that the right paints educated folks as elitists. Gee, I'm sorry I actually took the time to learn something.

  • What Has Obama Ever DONE!

While the lefties continue to chuckle at the small town mayor Palin -- conveniently dissing her experience as governor of a complex state -- with 80% approval ratings, no less -- they pine for hope and change from a man with NO experience at governing -- NONE. Two years in the US Senate, leaving scarcely a footprint. Eight years in the IL senate, which if it amounted to anything would be mentioned more than it has. Running an educational foundation with William Ayers, with dubious results -- again, we never hear about that either. Is there anything else to measure his performance?

Obama might as well have been lifted into our midst yesterday for all we know of his accomplishments, as opposed to his thoughts. And we want to put him in the most difficult and responsible executive position in the world? Sarah Palin is an open book compared to this guy. To say that Obama has been vetted is simply without foundation.

  • She's an Extremist

Three months before she was thrust into the national political spotlight, Gov. Sarah Palin was asked to handle a much smaller task: addressing the graduating class of commission students at her one-time church, Wasilla Assembly of God.

Her speech in June provides as much insight into her policy leanings as anything uncovered since she was asked to be John McCain's running mate.

Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a MESSIANIC AFFAIR in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

  • But She couldn't walk the walk - welcome to liberal-land

After receiving the vice presidency nomination on the basis of her solid pro-life position, she is saying that she helped her daughter make the right CHOICE. Likewise her support groups are saying she "walks the talk", apparently about her CHOICE to keep the baby. First of all, the only CHOICE that her party advocates is abstinence. Obviously, she did not walk the walk. On the other hand, since when is a baby a CHOICE? That is the one issue that got her where she is. Ok, well maybe the other issue is drilling in ANWAR. But better yet, drill in ANWAR and secede from the U.S. There is no conservative like a take the oil and run conservative.

Since she now believes that this is a personal CHOICE, and her PRIVATE business, not the Federal Governments, she is now a liberal.

    Welcome to Liberal-Land.

  • So much for trying to buy off Alaskans

This was posted in today's Anchorage Daily News....

  • Where are the intelligent Republicans?

Where are the intelligent Republicans? I know there have to be some, somewhere. This whole situation brings more meaning to the saying "I think, therefore I am a Democrat."

Where are the anti-war republicans? Where are the socially moderate republicans? Where are the pro-choice republicans? Is there anybody in there???

  • Gravitas???

Well, the right can't win this one. If the McCANE campaign knew about Governor S, then they are stupid. If they did not check her out, then their decision process is, to say the least, suspect. Just what we need on "the button."

  • @Mickey Kovars

A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama worked as a community organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, he announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate in January 2003. After a primary victory in March 2004, Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He was elected to the Senate in November 2004 with 70% of the vote.

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. During the 110th Congress, he helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel. After announcing his presidential campaign in February 2007, Obama emphasized withdrawing American troops from Iraq, energy independence, decreasing the influence of lobbyists, and promoting universal health care as top national priorities.

  • i don't know what's scarier

that they didn't bother to vet her at all (or not as much as others) and he picked her,

    or

that they did "fully vet" her and decided to pick her anyway.

i don't know see how either of those situations speaks well about McAncient's judgment. truly frightening.
