Many people have asked for privacy and compassion for Bristol Palin. That's fine. But the real issue is that Sarah Palin will fight privacy and compassion for all the other teen-age girls of America. Sarah is against sex education, against contraception, against abortion, against reproductive choice. Sarah Palin is proud of the choice her daughter has made. But she would prohibit all other American women from having a choice. She is one Supreme Court Justice away from achieving that goal.
3 D thining sees the object and the stereotype and 4 D thinking sees what it is doing through time and culture.
The phony "liberal" and "progressive" "msm" and "bloggers" have been spun into the worst behavior of the right wihn utbars and sleazebags. They don't get it but Obama did.
You don't get the demograph ic appeal either. People like to vote for people they identify with and she is more oofan all of the other three candidates put together. Who really identifies with McCain, Biden or Obama?
Other power brokers, wheeler dealers, war pushers and flag wavers.
You don't get PR either. Her name is everywhere. Bad PR is great PR. What you perceive as bad is viewed by many as good. You don't get that, do you?

All the hand-wringing over the vetting of Sarah Palin by the Obamacrats is classic crocodile tears. The truth is that the Dems are desperate to discredit her because she is a threat. Many people like her and consider her capable -- many of the same people who dislike Obama and are not wowed by his persona and his experience. And he's the number one candidate, not the number two!
If Obama were ever to undergo the kind of colonoscopy of his political and personal past that Palin is now getting, he'd be cooling his heels in Chicago watching the progress of the Hillary candidacy. There is no way that his rotten associations and total lack of meaningful experience would survive this kind of media attack. Of course, since most of the media are totally in his corner, that will never happen.
For most of the people who post here, your course of action is simple: vote for Obama. You were going to do that anyway, Palin or no Palin.
What were Sarah Palin - and the Republican Party - thinking?
They were thinking how Americans vote for phonies, and hoping that McCain/Palin might be just phony enough.

It seems highly improbable that McCain and/or his campaign knew of Bristol's out of wedlock baby. If they did, why would they have risked a backhanded slap to conservatives. No to Lieberman, yes to Palin???
McCain's choice of Palin will not be retracted. Of course, Palin could resign. If choosing Palin was a mistake, then cutting her loose would be a bigger mistake. This is a no win situation for McCain. But worse, it will be a disastrous error in judgement should McCain be elected. I know Republicans are incapable of doing the right thing for the country; the rest of us need to be sure to vote for Obama and put America first.
Regarding the issue of Obama's versus Palin's experience, let us not lose sight of the fact that as citizens, we can vet Obama by, or not, casting a vote for him. We don't have that opportunity with Palin. If McCain is elected, we have to accept her whether she is up to the job or not.

I live in a country where the popularity of the President during the initial invasion of Iraq was in excess of 80% despite mountains of evidence easily available that the war was unnecesary. Where the vast majority of the populace stood by saluting the flag while our rights and our privileges guaranteed us for two centuries under the constitution were systematically eroded. Where even now, when the greed and avarice of seven years have left a whole country decimated and in economic despair, the citizenry sit idly while both parties do nothing to solve the greatest financial debacle of the last century.
And you think a chicken-fried nightmare like Palin and her family will matter to the empty-headed electorate here? Puleez........
