I think the biggest issue about this choice is the issue of vetting and how this decision was made. It has been said in many places that the choice of the vice president is THE single biggest window the voter has into how someone will govern. This gives a very disturbing "window" into McCain.
But after the feeding frenzy, usually all of this goes into the backseat and is forgotten or ignored. I don't think this should be "forgetten or ignored" but likely it will.
Also though I don't agree with socially conservatives, I try to take their conserns seriously. That this is so delighting them makes it hard. Surely some one like Mike Huckabee would be experienced, very nice and vetted. It is hard for me to see why this is so delighting that group with the many problems that this choice has.
And I really have a problem with the statement that Sarah Palin is more experienced that Barack Obama. I asked myself if you were given that position to defend could you do it and it seemed so irrational that I came to the conclusion you couldn't. And yet people are. They can't really believe what they are arguing--could they?
