  • @wright

Bingo, wright. That won't stop the whack jobs on the right (getting this, Xanthro?) from parroting the line about Obama's lineage. Nevermind the fact that Obama took the high road from the beginning.

Stop McCain/Palin. They are a disaster for this country on so many levels it's frightening.

  • @RenMan53

what's wrong, xanthro, is that Palin MADE IT AN ISSUE. Her strident Abstinence Only/anti-education stance has set her up to be shown as a confirmed FAILURE.

No, you are searching for excuses to dig into personal issues.

Every candidate includes his or her family. Obama let his daughters be interviewed, does that mean everything is fair game against them? No, it doesn't

Furthermore, the fact that she'd willingly subject her troubled children/grandchildren to the glare of 24/7 media scrutiny shows that she is indeed a terrible mother.

The left media can't even get past the fact that Gov. Palin gave birth earlier this year, do you really think the fact that her daughter is pregnant would remain hidden?

Frankly, the terrible people are you and others who have resorted to the very worst of all types of Republican smear campaigns, and aimed them at Children.

It's beneath my party and our behavior disgusts me.

  • @xanthro again

Xanthro, I assume you were there when Palin told McCain her daughter was preggers. Or is it just that you believe everything they spoon-feed you?

    Yes, that must be it.

Now, explain just how Obama's mother's sexual history is relevant.

  • @wright5579

Unless it's black-on-white a la Genarlow Wilson. Then you deserve 10 years in prison.

    -- wright5579

What? What are you talking about?

  • The flip flop on the bridge to nowhere is what's going to hurt her.

She's got a political list of bad judgements that's pretty interesting. I'd rather see attention to that than the pregnant daughter. Alaska secessionist? Wow.

And I don't want to see any attempts to capitalize on Gustav. There's 2 other storms gathering, on to hit on Thursday. We got very lucky (although we are not out of the woods yet).

  • @Wright again

Xanthro, I assume you were there when Palin told McCain her daughter was preggers. Or is it just that you believe everything they spoon-feed you?

I was advocating that Gov. Palin would be a good VP choice for McCain back in January. I'm quite familiar with her career and the vetting process that goes on. Without having to rely on just the press.

I also recognized Obama as a raising star in 2003, before his convention speech, and that he'd be someone's perfect VP in 2008 and then a shoe-in in 2016.

    Sadly, he's likely blown that.

Now, explain just how Obama's mother's sexual history is relevant.

It's not relevant, just as Gov. Palin's daughter's sexual history is not relevant.

  • Got an idea

This is extremely far-fetched, sci-fi speculation:

    - McCain picks Palin knowing she is a terrible choice, but one that will be hailed by social conservatives

    - he knows that this choice will completely demoralize the social conservatives once the rest of the country finds out what a trainwreck she is

    - after a few days, she pulls out of the race and the social conservatives cry and melt into a pile, giving McCain the leverage to...

    - select Joltin' Joe Lieberman!!!!!

I think it's far fetched because the next step is:

    - world yawns, votes Obama

But I'm running out of possibilities as to why McCain would make this massive of a mistake, other than he's really lost his marbles, or everybody on the left is completely misperceiving the electorate these days.

My money says he's lost his f-ing marbles.

  • @xanthro yet again, since you just don't get it

No, you are searching for excuses to dig into personal issues

wrong again, buckwheat. Palin made it an issue. Moralizing rightists like you made it an issue. The issue of abstinence only is one of the big planks of Republicans this round. And she's LIVING PROOF of its failure. You can spin it however you want, but that's the simple truth.

The left media can't even get past the fact that Gov. Palin gave birth earlier this year

Bull. The "left" media talks about a multitude of issues. Here's a clue... bloggers and posters on open forums are NOT the "left" media. I hear very little, and I listen to all manner of media... left, right, and center. The people talking most about the Down baby... FOX NEWS. They couldn't say Sarah Palin without touting her choice to not abort the baby. (at least SHE had a choice, eh? - more than she would give anybody else)

As for Bristol, and we "evil" democrats...

I don't give a damn about her kid in the political sense. She's 17, and does what 17-year-olds do... and like many, has become pregnant. The problem I have is with the holier-than-thou Palin and her mouthpieces in the rightist media - and you. She's a failure and if that's not comfortable for you, then too bad. I noticed you didn't bother to actually address WHY I think she's a terrible mother. Be disgusted. You are a democrat like Joe Lieberman is a democrat. In name only.

  • the reason to reject Palin...

    is her poor parenting skills

    her abuse of power

her lack of readiness to be president

her support of the bridge to nowhere and subsequent lie about it

her wish to push creationism into the classroom

    her secessionist background

her ambition at the expense of all else

her hypocrisy for brandishing her "choice" while fighting to deny all others their own choice

her mindless repetition of "drill drill drill drill" without discretion

and the fact that she's on the ticket with McShame

  • if mccain camp knew, then they must have decided to use it as a strategy

or, they didn't know. because palin probobly didn't know, either.

  • How hard is it...

...for a 44-year-old woman to put on weight? Not very. Why doesn't Palin turn over her medical records? I mean, she could have done BOTH: Announce her daughter's pregnancy AND turn over her own medical records relating to the birth of Trig. She could have done both and this whole thing would be over (well, the Trig part at least).

I mean, to fake a pregnancy wearing baggy clothes AND putting on weight (exercising less, hitting the potato chips and ice cream)...and then "after" the "delivery" exercise more and eat better...it ain't that hard...

However, I think it's just too unbelievable and ridiculous a scenario...I agree with the poster who said the whole Trig thing might have been a way of softening the impact of announcing her daughter's pregnancy...who started that rumor anyway? Inquiring minds want to know...did someone email Daily Kos? That needs to be tracked down.
